The smigel cartoon was hilarious too. didn't know that Louis CK and Dino Stamatopouloswere working on that now.

To each their own - I thought the smigel cartoon was funny at first but it got uncomforably long and graphic.....

I think that was the point...

I realized that it was the point - but it actually got to the point that I turned the channel - that isn't good execution of any TV show if you ask me - the advertisers who paid to have their commercial run after that bit probably missed out on having their product seen by more people than just me and my wife :(

It was a parody of Shazam, and the writer probably thought the aspect funniest about it is how much delight Shazam took in beating up the opponents.

Anyway, it's freakin SNL, they have a tradition of pushing boundaries of what you can put on television. Plus, it was really funny and something any other sketch show does all the time. The second you start censoring comedy to make it PC enough so everyone can watch it is the second it is no longer funny. To expect comedy to be that PC is lame.

Odd, I didn't think the cartoon was all that funny. It started funny, but then it seemed like the writers ran out of comedy material one-third of the way through it.

Yup. Kind of like regular SNL sketches.

The first time they did Nuni it was great, with Topher Grace.

fred armisen is starting to grow on me--that gigli sketch with ben affleck and fred playing "frondi" slayed me. . . and the one where he was the queens guy at "the gates" in central park

Those poor fucking advertisers! Where is censorship when we really need it?

Maybe my perception was off, but I thought that Josh Homme knew what was going to happen, especially when after the song, the way the two of them (Homme and Ferrell) just stood there together posing and staring into the camera.

I was looking forward to that performance all last week, ever since I saw that Ferrell was hosting on the same night as QOTSA performing. I thought there was no way Will Ferrell would let that comedic golden opportunity pass him by.

He (and the Queens) didn't let me down!!!

All in all I found this epsiode to be quite hilarious. I hate it when people pine for the old days. (see previous post where everyone talked about how Phish sucked after 1997)

Listen. I am sorry you are 30/40. Deal with it.
