Put simply, this fucking sucks. I had not realized how spoiled I was living in Ontario with gigantic Beer Stores everywhere, selection from all over Canada, US and the world, 300 beers from over 70 countries. I've been to a half dozen "Liquor Stores" all over Saskatoon and this just the worst. You can't even get COLD beer. I can't even get my preferred brand in this shitheel city.

Also the prices SUCK! Especially in terms of liquor, a full $5 a bottle higher on Jack Daniel's.

I don't how the Western folk put up with this.

I think anything west of Thunder Bay falls under the aforementioned label.

Does that mean we have to take Marathon and Kenora when the West separates?

You think Ontario is good...try Quebec, where beer and wine is for sale at any corner store.

I found the same problem when I moved from Montreal to Winnipeg in the late '70s.

Well, not just 50, but I can't get Ex either. And that's just domestic brands, there are a lot of UK beers that I would get at the LCBO that don't seem to be available in these parts. I also loved getting some Miller High Life on occasion, Labatt Ice once in awhile. So far my options seem to be a lot of 'Western' brand lager, Keith's, 'Labatt/Labatt Lite' (apparantly they don't like to call it Blue out here) and something just called 'Pilsner'. And yeah, getting it cold would be nice touch.

With respect to buying beer after midnight, Ontario does lag there, so I always overstock in case of emergencies.

I was in QCity for a conference a couple of years ago. I thought it was kickass for boozing, plus it seemed like they encouraged you to smoke everywhere. It was heaven.
