I was waiting for Sam Jackson to throw out a "Im the baddest muthafuckin jedi in the universe, mother fucker!!"

actually, that was a gripe of mine....looking back, i wish they would have re-cast sam jackson, natalie portman, and jimmy smitz....

i just see them in their other characters and couldnt fully accept or grasp them in the star wars universe. i think they should have went with less known or unknowns.

Don't forget Hayden Christiansen. Seriously, is there a worse actor available? I'd almost prefer Ben Afleck or Keanau Reeves.

Damn right. Hoooooly crap is that guy wooden. 2 facial expressions... "neutral" and "slightly put-off." That's it.

And Sam Jackson was a horrible horrible decision. He's good at what he does, but "jedi" isn't it. Look what made those first 3 so damn good, (IMO) - unknown leads. Who the hell was Mark Hamill? (And to be fair, what the fuck was Corvette Summer...) You almost have to put unknown / lesser-knowns in fantasy pics like that unless you want people thinking "Pulp Fiction, LA Law, Where the Heart Is," etc. the whole time.

Corvette Summer = a film only Mrs. Hamill could love.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. I thought the first two sucked and have no faith that George Lucas will fill in the gaping holes he's opened but I still find myself stragely excited to be seeing this tonight.

Booked a tic for 11:30 PM Friday night. Part 3 of 3 in a Friday Night Movies triple header (Interpreter & Hitchhiker's Guide being the first two).

almost. however, a trilogy like the lord of the rings contradicts this theory.

Not sure if that's a fair comparison. LOTR is much more effective as an ensemble piece than Episodes 1 & 2, where everything pretty much revolves around Obi Wan, Anakin, or the Queen. The few well-known actors (circa late '01) that were in LOTR either had central roles or had their characters given extra focus (Liv Tyler, for example; not that I'm complaining).
