You guys fucking crack me up sometimes. It means you rushed out to see this movie, having never been a Star Wars fan, apparently just so you could educate us all on how much it sucks.

Two words: complimentary tickets. What, you think I camped overnight with the lightsabre crowd?

No, he would have seen you there in that case.

10/10 for Fu-slam.

Roy Clark's marketing dept. is pretty thorough.

1. Children should never be allowed in movie theaters (ever). Running commentary by this kid and his dad sitting next to me was horrible.

2. The anakin / padme scenes made me think that I really wouldn't want to be friends with these people. I kept thinking, man, what a bunch of losers.

3. I just HATE that emperor.

4. Best moment in the movie is when yoda says something and samuel l. jackson cocks his head and nods slightly as if to say "yeah, true dat."

The term "younglings" keeps me from highly recommending this movie. If anything screams 3 out of 4 stars, it's this.

It had tons of problems (I laughed out loud at several "serious" scenes), but none of that stopped me from enjoying it. I'd go see it again.

*Caution: Possible Spoiler below*

My personal favorite was when Padme says something to Aniken about their love saving her and he replied that the only thing that could save her was his new powers. Just the way he said it was hilarious. I think I was the only one in the theater to laugh but that really cracked me up for some reason.

That and Vader's "NOOOOOOOOooooooo!" was also funny.

Yeah, that was pretty bad.

After giving it a little time, I have come to the conclusion that overall the movie was good, but the directing was terrible. I think the underlying story was good and it was enjoyable to watch, but so many of the scenes just weren't directed well.

SPOILER ALERT: As an example, the scene where anakin is transformed into darth vader was way too rushed; one minute he's being operated on, the next minute he's in the suit and struggling to walk, and all of a sudden he's totally comfortable walking around. It would have been a lot more interesting to see a slower transformation into his new persona.

SPOILER ALERT

“Execute order number 66.” Why not just make it 666, George? We get it… the Emperor is evil.

MORE SPOILERS:

Yeah, the big flubs in the movie seemed to come along at the worst times, all at the intended dramatic climaxes. Things were going along pretty good leading up to the Darth Vader transformation, and then all of a sudden he's lying on the operating table in the full get-up. Everything about the scene where he stomps out of the thing and yells was just insanely clumsy.

In general, I thought Anakin's whole coversion from earlier in the movie was rushed. He seemed to be really confused, trying to figure out what to do about Palpatine, and after he helps kill S. Jackson he's all "What have I done?" Then a minute later he's completely committed to following Palpatine, and he's got no problem murdering a bunch of kids and shit.

And in the part where the Emperor's voice changes, how about that silly, puckered-up face he made? It just made the voice even more hilarious. He looked like he was talking to a baby or a dog. Nearly the entire audience laughed.

Most of the action was great, but I didn't really like the frequent cuts back and forth between the Obi-wan/Anakin fight and the Yoda/Emperor fight. Really broke up the momentum. The back-and-forth between the childbirth and the Vader transformation was better up until you-know-when.

I can't argue that most of Lucas's direction in the dramatic parts was really awful, and the movie had some serious pacing problems. Ewen McGregor helped things a little bit, though.

some of you guys' intelligence makes you look so dumb. Remember, Star Wars is a mainstream science-fiction movie, not some indie cannes french indie foreign art-house indie film. Name a better popular science-fiction movie and i'll tip my hat to you.

MORE SPOILERS

I agree, the Vader transformation was just unsatisfying. I think if they'd dragged it out a little longer it would have been more dramatic. Oh, and if he hadn't asked about Padme right off the bat. I think it would have been better if he'd found that out before he was put in the suit. Minor detail.

The Code 66 thing was really lame but whatever. The old movies had some really lame stuff too. I don't mind that so much because this movie didn't introduce a bunch of stuff that was totally inconsistent with the originals. That's what really killed Episodes 1 and 2 for me. On top of that, they weren't entertaining.

I actually thought Hayden Christiansen was much better this time then in Episode 2. Not good, but much improved. I still hate Yoda with a light saber. I don't think it's inconsistent with his character or anything, I'd just rather he be so wise and such a master of the force that he used the force differently or something. Him flipping around the room like a hyper kid on drugs really bothers me. I also thought the Emporer using a light saber was weak.

With each bomb Lucas emits... Peter Jackson looks more and more like Einstein. LOTR proved it can be done.

The Matrix. Not saying it's better than the originals but it's better than the prequals.

Every Star Wars Prequel is 500,000,000 times better than both Matrix sequels.

They had an excuse though... no one thought the Matrix would be so popular... they wrote those sequels in a few months and spit the movies that fast to meet the demand. Lucas had 20 years.

I was just referring the first Matrix but would put the sequals equal to or slightly above Star Wars Episodes 1 & 2.

I get much more satisfaction out of the original Rollerball than Episode 1. Still haven't seen Episode 2.

Huh? The Matrix sequels were released 4 years after the original Matrix. I'm going assume you are being sarcastic.

Comparing a original movie with a prequel/sequel from another series is ludicrous. You can only compare sequels/prequels to other sequels/prequels. Necessarily every one of those se/pres is going to be judged against the original movie and placed in that context.

A little bit... but comparatively, they churned those things out double-time. The Matrix sequels are some of the worst cinema ever made... the original was so, so good though. God... did I even see the last one? I don't think I did.

It's not ludicrous when the original challenge was to "Name a better popular science-fiction movie [than Episode III] and i'll tip my hat to you."

Or maybe old nerds shouldn't be so infatuated with a kid's movie and grow up.

Exactly. Fuck, if you can't name a dozen sci-fi films better than any Star Wars flick then you've got a lot of great movies to watch.

The Matrix
Blade Runner
A Clockwork Orange
Road Warrior
12 Monkeys
Alien
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Man Who Fell To Earth
Repo Man
Outland
Terminator
Slaughterhouse Five

Of course, those are mostly examples of sci-fi that is not aimed at children.

Fuck, PREDATOR 2 is better than these Star Wars prequels.
