Pacers/Celtics game was a real snoozer.

I'm glad the Pacers won, however.

I'm not. The game did suck though.

Yeah, that was a tough one to watch, particularly after the way the series had gone. None of the games were consistently well-played, but I didn't think the Celts would come out *that* flat in the 2nd half.

I'm guessing that was Toine's last game as a Celt.

Houston, Phoenix, and maybe even Memphis would give them a good series, but Seattle and Sacramento are both pretenders.

FT's Homer Call: Spurs escape Denver in 7, brush off Seattle in 5, then...meet Dallas in the West Finals. Right now, that would be a toss-up. The Mavs are DEFINITELY hotter right now.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I would call that Seattle series quite a brush off and I would say that Seattle was more than a pretender. That was quite a series. I think Seattle did about as well as they could have expected given they were minus 2 of their top 3 scorers. Most those games were pretty entertaining to watch. Nice win for your Spurs, FT. I see Phoenix giving them a tough time, though.

Yeah, I REALLY underestimated the Sonics. I'm pretty shocked that series didn't end up going seven. I can only imagine how much harder it would have been for the Spurs to win if Rashard Lewis and Rachmaninoff (or whatever the long-haired Russkie's name is) had not gotten injured early in the series. Big props to your boys, Mike. If Jerome James can start to maintain consistency, he will be an absolute beast in the middle. Ridnour looks like he might be the next Stockton. I'd trade Parker for him in a nanosecond. And McMillan is a damn good coach. It'll be interesting to see whether they can keep him and Ray Allen.

I disagree. I think that Rashard Lewis' injury forced McMillan into a 3-guard lineup that actually put the Spurs at a big match-up disadvantage. The Spurs kicked the "with Rashard" Sonics' asses twice before he stopped playing. The fact that McMillan also threw out his entire playbook and essentially aped Phil Jackson's Round 2 strategy from last year also had a lot to do with it. The good news for the Spurs is that neither Phoenix nor Dallas can play much defense, so getting into the lane is gonna feel like a cakewalk compared to the Denver and Game 3-6 of the Seattle series.

That said, I have no idea who will win the WCF. It should be a great and long series regardless of who advances from the Suns/Mavs series. While the regular season doesn't mean that much at this point, neither Phoenix nor Dallas beat San Antonio with Duncan in the lineup this year.

Finally, I'm happy that SA, Detroit, and Miami are all the the conference finals. The 2 3rd round series should both be excellent (esp. of Phoenix takes the last spot), because the best teams are in.

But seriously, what the fuck did Nash get mvp for...the lowest ever ppg average for mvp was 23. He gets like fif-fucking-teen. It was really quite a joke.

San Antonio would own Phoenix like a gimp, because i can't imagine Amare getting the better of TD in a seven game series, it just would not happen. That said, i think San Antonio would have a few troubles containing all of Dallas's guards.

Just curious, who would've made a better MVP? Did you witness his last two performances? I think he's worthy. Not because he's white, but because he's Canadian. Seriously, Phoenix had what, all of some-teen wins last year? This year over 60 - that's a vast improvement. Nash doesn't deserve all the credit, but a great deal was due and he was awarded thusly.

Look at Nash's assist totals and add 1/2 of Stoudamire's PPG to Nash's stats, since almost all of Amare's points come deep in the paint after dishes from Nash, and you see how important he is.
Plus, dude can go off on any given night. It's just that in Phoenix he's best used as a distributor; truly QBing the offense to get the best out of all the other players they have. He makes the team markedly better by pulling everything together, and you see that in the W-L turnaround from last season to this one.

I didn't know you got MVP awards for stuff you did after you received the MVP award. In that case, put Lebron in the Hall of Fame right now.

Phoenix was in the playoffs two years ago with a less talented team than they have now and Stoudamire still a rookie. It's not like the team has been awful for a long time, it was one off rebuilding season. Their team last year was absymal on paper and on the court, adding a few good players changes this obviously. Promising young players get better. Stoudamire's improvement has been pretty much been on the same incline upward since he got into the league. And Nash can't play D. I'd still put him in the top 3-4 easily for MVP this year. There simply wasn't a candidate that was running away with it.

Yeah, in a pretty much 4-way dead heat race (Nash/Shaq/Duncan/Nowitzki) Nash probably got the nod because he's the best story of the bunch and it's his first time winning.
It gives sports hacks something to write about, which sadly plays a large part in how these things shake down.

Hey, MarkClark. If those darned teenage hormones weren't working overtime, you might be able to stand back and make some sense of my comment, not to mention make some sense of your own. Your LeBron analogy is pretty flawed. I was trying to highlight how his past two performances are proof he's worthy of the award (even though one resulted in a loss). Don't look just at the stats, look how he carried the team. Buck-eighty, six-foot nothing and he's schooling Dirk & Co. And he's fun to watch.

Nash got it over Shaq because Miami is still good enough to win a second round playoff series without Shaq.

Without Nash, the Suns don't even make the playoffs. With him they have home court througout.

Carried the team to a loss with 9 turnovers!

Yeah, someone who played 35 minutes a game deserved the 6th man award, right?

I'd throw Iverson in there as well.
