Didn't enjoy it as much as I anticipated I would.

Wouldn't make my top 15 right now, which is weird because I would have bet that anything he put out would be top-three.

Just tell us who your top 2 are so far this year, so we can mock you too.

I wasn't mocking. I generally don't understand the hype. I've discussed it with my co-workers who pretty much listen to anything and they don't understand either.

I haven't thought about it but I guess my top two so far would be Eels and Final Fantasy.

I was joking around.

But you (nor your co-workers) truly don't hear anything redeeming in either Spoon or Wilco, worthy of some hype?

I haven't heard either the new Eels or FF albums, so I guess I can't mock your choices. ;) I love the Eels, though; and I did see FF open for the Arcade Fire---I enjoyed him, but thought he was sort of a poor man's Andrew Bird.

Earlier in the year, I was really excited about everything that was coming out. After letting things sit for a bit, I'm kind of meh on everything. That andrew bird album is still great though.

Every mention of The National and Bloc Party is a hammer blow to my skull and at this point I'm reelling, I'm dizzy, I've dropped to the floor and my last few seconds of conciousness are a cruel kaleidoscope of confusion and pain, as I slip away into all consuming darkness of Other Peoples Taste.

I'm in something of a quandry about my favourite 2005's because I'm sure sure if I should count Fiery Furnaces 'EP' or Mogwai's 'Government Commissions' as new albums so if you exclude them it would be...

1. Antony & The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now
2. Broken Family Band - Welcome Home, Loser

1. Crooked Fingers - Dignity and Shame
2. Josh Rouse - Nashville

I'm REALLY liking the new Deathray Davies, as well. As for Spoon, I can see Gimme Fiction making my Top 10 at the end of the year, but probably not quite my Top 5.
