As for Spoon, I can see Gimme Fiction making my Top 10 at the end of the year, but probably not quite my Top 5.

You must not rank this high among Spoon albums then I assume.

I consider ALL Spoon albums to be high-ranking, but within the entire Spoon catalog, this is running neck-and-neck with Girls Can Tell for the #4 spot on FT's favorite Spoon releases.

All are top 10 worthy. I love the Smog. Need New Body's is called "Where's Black Ben?"

This was hard for me to decide because I'm more of a singles guy. Its very rare for me to enjoy a complete album from beginning to end because of filler. As far as complete albums go though, right now my choices are...

01. Beck - Guero
02. Engineers - s/t

coming on strong:

Gorillaz - Demon Days
NIN - With Teeth

I didn't know there was a new NNB. When did/will it come out and what label?

Haven't heard new Smog yet but I've become a big fan over the past year or so.

not that i've listened to a ton so far, but the new of montreal, spoon, and beck have been my favorites so far. i'm the epitome of mainstream indie.

This album has definitely grown on me over time. He's not doing anything new, but it's solid as hell. I would personally like to thank the Dust Brothers for keeping it real with the beatz.

NIN - With Teeth

I'm still trying to figure out my opinion on this. It works as a basic rock album, but Trent also took out many of the elements that made me like NIN in the first place, such as unique electronic layers and innovative arrangements. He played it too safe with With Teeth.

Sage Francis - A Healthy Distrust
Crooked Fingers - Dignity and Shame
Spoon - Gimmie Fiction
Edan - Beauty and the Beat

in no order, after Sage Francis.

The new Mars Volta is very good as is The Coral. Those are my top two for right now. I'm a sucker for the new Audioslave and The Bravery too.

1. M.I.A. - Arular
2. Sleater-Kinney - The Woods

Other good ones: Architecture in Helsinki, Quasimoto, Decemberists, Nine Inch Nails, Low, Of Montreal, Antony & the Johnsons, Go-Betweens. I really dislike Gimme Fiction, in comparison to other Spoon.

This is pretty much my list. Except I might put the new Sleater-Kinney in at number two. Might. Black Mountain and Edan are coming up from below, too.

My personal favorites and most listened to have been:

1. M. Ward - Transistor Radio
2. Beck - Guero

I still feel like I haven't heard that much from this year. I guess I'll look through the thread later.
