Just before gmail arrived, I signed up to this really dodgy looking Islamic service just because it had the largest storage and you could send big attachments (like terrorist plans!).

Not quite konstantinl@alqaeda but probably not far from it.

As soon as I step on a plane now a klaxon goes off in the White House.

Good thing you don't fly, Darrin.

If Guinness did this, I'd be all over it.

I must admit that a lot of why i signed up was homesickness. I grew up outside of Saint Louis and Bud is king there. Personally, I hate their beer... as Monty Python once asked, "Why is American Beer like making Love in a Canoe? Because It's Fucking Close to Water!"
But it is from the 'Lou. So, all my pals back home will laugh and hoist one for the sad little Prairie dweller when they recieve an e-mail.

conversation I had at a bar about 2 blocks from the brewery in St. Louis...

Me: What beer ya got?
Bartender: We got everythng.
Me: Ok, give me a Guiness.
Bartender: We have every Anheuser-Bush product here (said with complete condesention, while looking at the brewert out the window)

OK..stupid on my part, but still pretty funny.

The sad fact is ALL of St. Louis is like that. The bartender probably looked out the window towards the Brewery to let you in on the fact that he too is a prisoner and those Busch boys have spies everywhere. German's have tended to have a thing about control and Beer Halls. He was just worried the Gestapo would come take him away.

I think I just ordered a bud. Had to hang around because it was a birthday party for my dealer at the time who was cutting up freebies for all in the back room.

St. Louis has actually grown away from the AB control of all beer in recent years. The Schlafly Brewery has some decent beers that are on draft at most local bars and the big trendy thing around here nowadays is old style beers like Pabst and such. Heck, there's a bar on Pestalozi, with the brewery in shight, where you can get a variety of beer.

And, hey, not all us Germans are all bad. (maybe)
