If you're not going to get bonus tracks, what's the blasted point? Just print another couple hundred thousand of the original and be done with it.

And another thing, it's absolute b.s. for anything recorded in the last 20 years to require a remastering. It's not like the only thing you had in 1985 was some crappy four track that hissed like a komodo dragon.

It may be bs that they require 'em but those Echo and the Bunnymen reissues for example sound SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than my original discs. Listening to my mp3 player on random makes it painfully obvious how many of my favorites from the 80's are badly in need of remastering.

When CDs debuted, no one knew how to master for the things, so they used the settings for vinyl, which is entirely wrong for something with such clear sound. I haven't heard anything from the 80s that was remastered that hasn't sounded drastically improved. That's why we're getting these truly amazing remasters of this stuff. If you can't hear the difference, you need to hit up the Q-tip section at your local drug store. Now, things released in the last 10 years or so, however, should not really "need" remastering, but I do hear an audible difference between the original issue of Jeff Buckley's Grace and the deluxe edition released last year. It's not much, and for most people it's totally inconsequential, but it is an improvement.
