So what d'ya think? Is he intentionally staying away from baseball because of this whole steroid issue? It's awfully coincidental but I have a bad feeling his injuries aren't healing as fast as they would if he got some "help".

Your thoughts?

I read an article in the daily news back in februaury where the writer suggested that he wouldnt be surprised if Bonds came down with an illness/injury that would keep him out through a large portion if not the whole season....to keep him out of the spotlight and the Balco crap.....

I really don't care about him either. I just find it interesting that the so-called "best" player of this era would pull something like this.

well, now that he has been moved to the 60-day DL, i think the stage ise for him to either

A. comeback for a short stretch and then retire

B. never play again

There is also a rumor that he cant come back b/c he can't pass the drug test.(since he hasnt been active all season he hasnt taken one yet)

I hate his PUBLIC persona. Just an absolute jackhole. I don't know him personally so I can't say about him in that respect.

I hope he never comes back just because I'd like to see the Hammer keep the record a little longer. Then again, I'm a homer for the home team.

Great player.
Is he a nice person? Who cares.
Does he dope up? Maybe.
Is he the first player to dope up? No.
Are there players in the hall of fame who cheated? Yes.
Is Barry Bonds a hall of famer? First ballot.
Is he faking an injury or is his injury steroid related? People who say those things should be shot. Occam's Razor.

All the reports I heard were that he was on track for a full recovery that would have allowed him to play most of the season in early winter. He refused the involvement of the Giants medical team in his rehab using the same trainers he's always used when healthy and that they were way too aggressive in his rehab. He reinjured his knee and somewhere along the way he developed some serious infections in his knee. He's had to have lots of liquid drained from his knee and according to ESPN last night he recently spent a week in the hospital because of the infection. They claimed that it was so serious that he was in and out of consciousness regularly and that doctors didn't initially rule out having to amputate the leg. They say that now the infection is all gone and that its just a matter of when and how aggressively he can rehab.

Could be all bs...don't really know

are you still contending that steroids doesn't effect the homerun totals of the last decade?

yeah, and Kiev, I've heard similar stories about him before.

What really made me sick was a few years ago, at the end of the year, when the Giants were playing the Astros and they kept showing Bonds's family in the stands with a sign that read "Pitch to my Daddy" or something like that. I was praying for him to get earholed every AB.

I wouldn't talked to a bunch of snot nosed five year olds, either.

I agree. Unless my contract gave me more money to do so. And then only with a mask and gloves.

And BTW for those keeping score at home, Barry Bonds is THE BEST BASEBALL PLAYER OF THIS ERA, steroids or not, sorry, its hard for me to swallow too because i dont personally like the guy either.

But its the facts maam, just the facts.

Yail, I don't totally disagree. But it wasn't too long ago that Ken Griffey Jr. was considered the best. Then Bonds goes ape shit and hits 70 hmrs, and all of sudden he's always was the best. I generally think Bonds was the best player, but I think steroids and his inflated homerun is somewhat a factor.

Did I say that, or did I say that I didn't know? In either case, what has changed that would make me reconsider? Jose Canseco wrote a book?

I don't think it affects it that much (check out Marvin Benard and Alex Sanchez). How much farther does it allow you to hit the ball. Three feet? You still have to hit it, does it help you do that?

Home runs are only part of what makes Bonds a great player anyway.

Naw. The ball players take 'em exclusively for the aesthetics of the shrunken testies.
