Funny, I may be soft towards my kid in many ways, but god HELP the person who tries to hurt or doesn't help or what have you him.

I'm the nastiest mama bear and will eat anyone who gets in the way to upset him.

I've taken on school officials. Literally calling them out as liars in the hallway of the school and questioning their credentials( Actually this is true but it was the school social worker and she's a fucking moron and my ex and I hate her).

Having a kid has actually made me stronger.

Just because you are a character doesn't mean you have character.

I was like this before I ever had kids. Can't put the blame on them.

Oh and back to the "condesention" thing:
I can see how it could be read that way.
But in fact, it was more self-depreciation - ask Spade about my penchant for that.

This is the thing Poptodd. I saw the day you joined Hipinion and thought to myself that he will see through the bullshit. I also remember the day Spoon joined but he is a very different story. You haven’t seen the truth yet and it’s OK because it takes awhile. I think Spade Kitty is almost over it but unsure because I just can’t bothered (plus i discovered ILM) to click the link to see how our Obner people are being treated over there. It is fine because one day you will grow out of that board but when you praise it than I need to say something.

Poptodd you and I love, love, love the Boo Radleys and Super Furry Animals and will always respect that because you get it!

Hipinion is a web board, not a slave labor camp. Who gives a fuck how anyone is treated "over there".

I see it as more passive aggressive. The "CondesCension" thine that is.

I never go there, and I could care less. I reminds me of this analogy about Harvard & Princeton I once heard. People at Princeton are prone to say things like "Our xxxx is better than Harvard's," whilst people at Harvard will say "Our xxxx school is the best," with no mention of Princeton.

SO by this logic they very well may have a better. But I would not know because I do not concern myself with going over there when I have this board.

I pretty much ignore the threads on Hipinion that I know will be truly obnoxious. The rest of the time (like two or three threads every couple of days), I just post glib nothings.

There's some rank stuff here and there, but it's not like you have to get caught up in it or take it seriously.

I've learned the best thing is to stick to music, tv, movie related threads and stay clear away from the rest.

And keep a low profile. I'd rather not poke the sleeping bear over there. I have this desire for peace in my life and if I want to get riled up I'll say something here where I know the people.

Question at large:

Am I missing out on anything of value by not ever even looking at another board, anywhere? Seems like nobody here ever speaks well of other boards, and I'm happy, so....

I am a 1-board gal, as it were, so far. I've never even seen Hipinion, or any other message board other than the Fender Forum, and the last time I posted there was maybe a year and a half ago...

See that is part of my point. Why give them the satisfaction of thinking their shit doesn’t stink.

They bring up races things all the time and blow it off like it is nothing. Ask girls to post their cans; sure it was fun in high school. Then they post pre-teen pictures of girls and act like there is no foul. I can go on and on. Sorry but I’m so above that and no this board is nothing like that one.

I got to the point where I feel like I’m a good poster but because I’m contributing to this Bullshit and that I’m just feeding the machine.. Why, these are people I wouldn’t hang with in normal life and they think that’s it’s OK for them to act a certain way.

I fucking HATE that board and will no longer give them the satisfaction of my input.

FUCK THEM, see the truth as it’s not too hard and this board is very smart.

I actually enjoy Hipinion. It's just easy to make fun of.
And you are a Fender gal?
I love you.
Don't tell my wife.

Uhhh, I'm a fender guy, yes. I think I chose poorly with that metaphor. But I still won't tell your wife.

Do you ever learn anything there, though? Is there anything to it other than watching people argue or try to out-indie each other with "over the top" apathy?

Occasionally.
I think i COULD learn something if there were more intelligent discussion about music. Although there is a guy over there, Geoff, who is hell-bent on exposing everyone there to a variety of world music. Shares a lot of different mp3s that are hella cool.

But it's mostly for entertainment purposes.

And I thought you were a guy, so that post took me by surprise. :D

And I just watched Field of Dreams for the first time ever(it was on cable and josh reminded me he owned the movie so we put it on so we could avoid commercials) and it just had me in happy tears and well, now I'm in a better mood but tired.

Your life has officially begun, now go rent Bull Durham. My son's team (that I'm coaching) wrapped up the league title last night. We're 11-1 with three games left before All-Stars starts. I get to coach that to. I'd love to take my son back to regionals, as it is an experience of a (baseball) lifetime.

Other than that, unfortunately, I usually could give a rat's a**. I try, though.

Baseball is the best of all sports. I went away from watching it most of my adult life but have the bug all over again.

The big difference between here and Hipinion is about a 5-7 average year age difference between the posters.

What the hell was this thread about anyway?

Near as I can tell;
• Todd thinks everyone is too jaded
* Pagoda thinks Todd's not jaded enough and has a Webster's dictionary turned to the word "soft"
* Jen likes baseball suddenly
• Hipinion has become some kind of concentration camp
• PhilSpoon is soft

I think that covers it.
