yeah that deserves a crotchbat if anything does.

Oops, I've done this before. Sorry everybody! :)

as for the picture-taking, I don't do it very often, but if I do, I take a couple of pics WITHOUT a flash, and then put the camera away. I was at a Peter Murphy show a few years ago, and there was a girl snapping away with her flash. During one of the songs, Peter swooped down, took the camera out of her hand and left it by the drum riser. He gave it back to her at the end of the show.

mainly, just the yelling-out-song-titles guy

being 5' 8'', I've gotten used to the annoyance of not being able to see...and I don't seem to be hitting up too many packed shows these days

the first time any of these buzz bands comes through town is the worst because everybody's got their phones pointed at the stage for the first couple songs.

another annoying thing: people calling someone during the middle of a show and then holding their phone up for the person to hear.

my #1 pet peeve at a show: WHEN PEOPLE SPILL THEIR DRINK ON YOU AND DON'T SAY SORRY. oh my gawd, they need to die. or better yet, when someone spills MY drink and doesn't say sorry.

i stand there, watch the show, bob my head or dance (but i keep to myself), possibly exchange a few words w/the person i'm with or if i'm by myself, i just keep to myself... and i usually have a drink in hand and i always get the asshole who decides it's the greatest idea EVER to mosh in front of me (when hellooooo no one else is moshing!) and decides to bump into me and knocks my drink. so me being feisty i yell at the jerk that he can at least say sorry and i'm ready to punch him, but no, someone has to hold me back. knock my booze, you die!

also- (though already been mentioned)
-people who just stand there with their arms crossed and express no emotion. come on, music isn't going to ruin your flat-ironed hair if you smile and actually enjoy the music. geez.

-bitches who don't shut the fuck up during the show. good lord some women deserve to get slapped.

-and it's usually those same bitches who push their way to the front.

-and yes, people who shout songs during the show. seriously. die. and how about those people who decide it's the best idea to sing every song out loud!!!! i'm there to hear the band sing, not YOU.

okay i have to stop now.

i'll admit to having my own interpretations of lyrics and many are not correct. i've changed my stance on this issue from a few years ago. i was at a hot snakes and saw a guy in front was having a total blast - singing, dancing, just loving the show. he was singing the wrong lyrics too. he also kept calling out for "dead dead town." there's a hot snakes song in which they repeat "it's a dead dead town" in the chorus, but it's called "10th planet." at first, i was like, "what's wrong with him?" but so what if he didn't know? he was having a good time. that and courtesy is really all i expect from fellow showgoers.

(but if you know you don't have the best voice, keep it low while you sing.)

I've been to a bunch of shows where the opening act who no one has or ever will hear from again arrives with their own little entourage of "groupies".

They spend the show gazing lovingly at the members of the band(who in most cases are probably their boyfriends) and snap posed pictures of each other which are taken as if to look spontaneous.

The seriousness with which they take themselves and "their band" is hilarious and when I go to show with friends it's often fun to pop their bubble.

hahahaha! I just experienced this recently at a Futureheads show. The High Speed Scene was opening (they open for them everytime F'heads come to Portland, dunno why). At both shows were a gaggle of young girls there to support their LA brethren. And the lead singer (who I nicknamed Hansel because he looks like the dude from Zoolander) talked about his "P-Town Posse." Whatever. No one in Portland calls it P-Town, moron.

I do this. Especially common at Phish shows.

People who don't watch the show, and are too busy snobbily talking to each other. Hey dude, if you want to talk, go somewhere else, there's no way you two are going to be able to hear each other in here. Besides, your friend wants to watch the show, too, and he's just too polite to tell you to shut up. Or maybe he did, and you just didn't hear him, either because of the above, or because you're too busy in love with your own voice to care what others say.

At least go to the back.

And people who fart. Well, besides me.
