The Dickie's version of "Nights in White Satin" IS better than the Moody Blues.

The Dickies' version of everything is better than the original.

Marc Riley & The Creepers' "Baby's On Fire" > Eno's
Pink Lincolns' "I Got You" > Split Enz'
Mott The Hoople "At The Crossroads" > Sir Douglas Quintet's
The Wedding Present's "Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family" > Bowie's
Generation X's "Shakin' All Over" > Johnny Kid's
Blue Aeroplanes "Boy In The Bubble" > Paul Simon's
Dave Edmunds "Girls Talk" > Elvis Costello's
Jason & The Scorchers "19th Nervous Breakdown" > The Stones'

I know I'll catch flack for a few of these, but look past the sacred cows and know the truth.

Sonic Youth's amazing cover of the Beatles "Within You Without You" is the moment when I "got" Sonic Youth. Retooled into Youth-swirl, with guitar drone acting as sitar drone, it's also one of the most dramatic, intense and pummelling things they've ever recorded.

Tori
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Dickies (anything!)
Cardigans -- anything Black Sabbath (someone posted a set list -- they opened and closed with a Sabbath cover == awesome!)
NIN are invariably interesting
...and of course...
Jimi Hendrix, All Along the Watchtower -- I know this makes the top of every classic rock list of covers, but it is that good.

I really like Rage Against the Machine covering Minor Threat's "In My Eyes"
I think it's as good if not better than the original.

Marilyn Manson's covers are always fun (Sweet Dreams, Tainted Love, etc.).

SOOO MONGEROUS. I fucking LOVE it. This is in my top 10 most played in my itunes.

Bloor gave me a cover of "Hoilday Road" (the Lindsay Buckingham song from 'Vacation') by Matt Pond PA that is fucking incredigar.

Cracker does justice to Ike Reilly's "Duty Free" I know there was a thread on this, but I wann know what Rads and Billze think of it.

I could list lots of Dead songs that they cover...but will mention "Second That Emotion" seriously. Qual.
