Chicago peeps, i'm surprised none of you have mentioned this!

The new Pelican album is fantastic. Cinematic, insanely heavy, and epic.

"Autumn Into Summer" shifts from gentle strumming into destructive riffs within minutes, and by the end, i'm fucking exhausted. Soooooooo heavy. The riffs that come in at the 9 minute mark sound right out of Paranoid-era Sabbath. "March To The Sea" makes me feel like i need another fix.....itchy, blurry eyed, and just plain fucked.

The riffs. Pelican riffs. That's what this album is all about.

you people need to hear this.

Wait . . . wait . . . what? Is this out? I hadn't heard anything about this. I just picked up the "March into the Sea" Ep like a month ago, and I don't even see this listed yet. When is the release date?

I quite like the sound of this group but I'd imagine they don't do UK releases.

wow, i think i destroyed the crappy stock speakers in my car. this is EXACTLY how i wanted australasia to sound. this is a big improvement. it definetly sounds thicker but the drums actually stand out. i can't wait to hear this on a system with some serious low end. should be hott.

I haven't mentioned it because they're fucking boring metal for indie kids.

Is this the same version of the track that's on the EP?

Nevermind: I downloaded it because I'm impatient and I'm happy to report that it's NOT the same version. The album version is just under 12 minutes, the EP version is about 21 minutes. You need both!

Bought it last week and am listening to it now all the way through for the first time. "March to the Sea" is definitely :rawk:-worthy. If anyone likes what Explosions in the Sky or Mono does, then they definitely need to check this one out. As Dalen noted above, its very cinematic and epic and can get pretty heavy at times. Probably a bit more metal than EITS or Mono, but good stuff.

I'm currently in "like" with this album.. I think it's pretty good, but it could've been a lot better...

i liked australasia a lot but i thought it sounded pretty muddy. i thought the rythmn section could've been way louder. i've only heard two tracks from the new album and the drums definetly sounded a lot more forward. i've ordered it, but it ain't here yet. grrrrr.
