here's the first e-mail to them:

We had tickets for Saturday May 21, Toronto performance of The Decemberists which was scheduled at Lee's Palace.

Tickets which we purchased from Ticketmaster show doors open at 9pm with the headlining act (Decemberists) playing a 11:45pm set.

We drove 2 hours to Toronto, arrived at Lee's Palace at about 9:30pm with nobody around. After a while we did get a chance to speak to a bouncer who didn't know what was going on, but after some questioning we learned that the Decemberists show was moved to The Phoenix and was an early show at 6pm.

We basically drove to Toronto for nothing!!!
I certainly have no means of expressing my anger over this mis-information. If you look through my purchasing profile you'll note that we purchase tickets on a regular basis.

I'm obvious looking for a refund, and the means to get it.
I have no problems sending my tickets back to ticketmaster for inspection. The bar code on the tickets are as follows:

124950591506 & 605986929682

We are usually on top of events that happening in Toronto.
Upcoming is Spoon, which we have tickets for and for this show i'm aware that there's been a venue change.
The Decemberists show however, somehow was change without us being able to realize it.

thank you,

dan bouchard.

Ticketmaster Replies:

Hello:

Unfortunately we are unable to locate your account with the information that you've provided us.

Would you kindly respond with your confirmation number so that we may conduct a thorough search for your order.

Please do not send your credit card number via email, as email is not on a secure server.

Thank You

this is in a decent record store,
the thing that blew me away is that they somehow couldn't bring up any of my info. I buy almost all my tickets on my sears card only two cancelled dates could be found from 2001.
Even more of a surprise (to them) was, they could access the name of address of everyone that bought a ticket to the Decemberists show that night in toronto. Somehow i wasn't on that list....
They claim that even though it looked like a set back, with the date of purchase and location, Ticketmaster should be able to find the info they need no problem.

stay tuned!

I don't know that story, and I'm gonna guess Busty don't either. Forgive the ignorance and tell it, eh?

Oh, I got the quote from Lebowski. I just don't know that story about Metallica and Ticketmaster. I tried to google it before making the post to try and educate myself, but to no avail.

Do tell.

I get it now, but I originally thought you were just royally pissed off for some reason.

Nothing beyond the standard artist-ticketmaster relationship, I assume. I just wanted an icon I could use to counter the Vedder "fighting for the everyman" reference.

Do you really think Metallica (or, I'll say it, The Rolling Stones, or any other monster sized band) would take up your side against Ticketbastard?

Just Askin.

Not specifically, but answer the fucking question.

[devil's advocate]What I want to know is how is your not calling the venue in advance to make sure the show was still on Ticketmaster's fault?[/devil's advocate]

i'm actually waiting for Ticketmaster to come back with this reply..

my answer is simple:

if i should be calling the venue of every show i go to (long distance at that) before i leave, what the hell do i pay convenience charges for???

it's not very convenient to be told, oh ya, call before you leave, you know just in case!

in this case (Decemberists) TM charged $5.75 convenience fee.
no the tickets didn't come in the mail, no i didn't order them online.
i actually got off my convenient ass and went to an outlet to buy them!

by the way, i'm still waiting for a reply giving them dates of purchase, location and all that crap which the guys at the store told me would be enough info for them to get that confirmation number.

Oh, you're thinking of the service fee. Totally different.

here's the thing: you think 'I'm a loyal customer, be a mensch and keep me sweet,' while they think 'dude's a music geek. he'll whine but he's not going to stop going to gigs... and guess who's got all the gigs? that's right!'
