I hate it when people touch my stuff. Feel better, Busty.

No, no, that's awesome. Classy place! 9 years ago, I treated myself to their fine Filet and cream of spinach for my twentieth birthday. Sat right in the bay window by the street.

I think she was running a dive bar across the street and down a block for the same folks at the time (since closed). A solid bouncer in her own right, for a not-so-big woman. Good with hooking drunk frat boys behind the knee and sliding 'em out. Fun times!

If one is to work at a bar right across from campus, one must become good at ejecting drunken fratboys from the premises, if one wasn't good at it to start with. Or, one can take the route that Bar Code tried when they opened, which is blasting non-frat-friendly music, like Ministry, at top volume.

I miss that town.

Good deal, you came out of it on top. Bar fights are never fun, particularly with drunk guys looking for Trouble.

My brother-in-law Mike is a seasoned bar fighter/bouncer and has been in innumerble scrapes with aggressive drunks. He's always come out on top because he likes to fight, but he told me a story last week that was pretty brutal. He was bouncing in our hometown last year and sure enough, near last call, some asshole (an out of towner) starts in with one of the barmaids. Obligatory back and forth verbal exchanges ensue and Mike somehow manages to convince the guy that he's walking out or being carried out, so eventually the guy relents. He's walking out with his beer but the barmaid's boyfriend insists on coming out with the Mike to "help" but he's lipping off the whole way out. Here's the fast and freaky part, Mike sees the guy drain his beer and start to grip it hard. Before he can grab the guy, he's smashed the bottle and stabs the boyfriend in the neck with the bottle. Boyfriend starts bleeding all over the place and basically faints dead away, leaving Mike with the guy. The fight is on now. Before it's all over, Mike's been stabbed four times in the arm and shoulder and the other guy is out with a concussion. The boyfriend's neck wound was about an inch away from being fatal and Mike ended up with some minor nerve damage.

Bar fights, unpredictable, but make for great stories.

dude, i would've done exactly what you did. some fuckers DO deserve an ass beating. fighting's stupid but sometimes what needs to be done needs to be done. i rarely fight (anymore) but sometimes those situations happen.

Im still wondering what made you chose 'slap him' from the general inventory of violent acts? Hmmmm was the guitar acoustic maybe? ;)

Yeah, the combination of cheap glassware and drunks can be pretty scary. All nerve damage is major, I think. When I was a bartender I was pleased to be behind a large, tall, stone bar with a big-ass bouncer button to summon big-ass bouncers. The english seem very willing to fight at the drop of a hat when drunk, or maybe it was just a shady establishment :)

Physical shit is never any fun, and is best avoided. Having said that, the only thing I disagree with in any of this is how it played- once you know it isn't going to be resolved in a reasonable fashion, and decide you have to smack the moron, you have to Schwarzkopf his ass, and leave absolutely NO room for reaction. An immobilized muffugga is no threat to you, your friends, or your personal property.

Hope the eye heals up quickly.

he's right. apres slap, the move is to go the jaw, the throat or the groin.

Mikey don't get physical, tho, so he was probably almost as shocked he slapped the guy as the guy was.

still, a great story.

dumpjack -- an acquaintance of mine from college had a similar situation. (Athens folks, this is that newer bar at the Half Moon side of town Gator Haters maybe?) he and some guys are escorting someone out, the guy goes bucky, his friends try to jump in, next thing you know they are all througha plate glass window, and my boy gets his throat cut from ear to ear. Missed his jugular, missed his actual larynx, put a pretty deep cut. I think 75-80 stitches.

funny thing is, Busty and I were chust chatting yesterday on AIM about an incident that happened down here where this crazy meth freak guy attacked me while i was sitting at the bar.

I was like "what the fuck?" as this dude basically pulls a flying tackle on me. Then I look up and Busty and our boy Hulty are pounding this guy and dragging him into the parking lot.

Once again, Busty was surprised at his actions.

That homeboy last night deserved it and its surprising it hasn't happened more as much as prick-licks always want to touch our gear and shit. I've started keeping my short-bat in my bingo box because i know some fucker is gonna step to me some night. Actually it's already happened but luckily it didnt descend into violence.....

insanity.

Next time, don't slap, ball up that little fist, and aim for the adam's apple.

Hard.

Excluding violence at soccer matches (in the bad old days you had fight your way out the grounds), I've thrown one punch in my adult life. It was a good one though!

I saw a dude get a bottle smashed off the side of his head outside a club last summer. It was kinda freaky.

The slap is awesome.

It's demeaning as hell, but when he fights back, don't forget to bite.
