The Boo Radleys – Lazy Day (1:32)

“Come stab it faster
The demon that’s inside me
If that’s what you’re after
Do it quick, hurt me

The Deon review:

The very first single that they put out on Creation Records back in 1992. What kind of statement was Martin Carr trying to make by making a song so short but powerful and only about a minutes and a half long. It starts off just kind of mellow but than the Dinosaur Jr. influence distortion kicks in. Then the thing that did separate Martin Carr from all others was those lyrics that are sheer genius. So deep and personal yet letting the world see what kind of world he was living in and see what his soul bared. That not even talking about the music and perpetration that went behind every single song. In this song you have a background going “haaa” from left to right speaker that just shows up out of nowhere.

That’s enough…

np: Wake Up! – The Boo Radleys (because of ILM)
