i think this is all because they just wanted to upstage the shaq/kobe reunion on the 25th.

Is Artest's suspension the longest in NBA history for on- court actions? I know there's been suspensions for drug use but I'm talking fouls/brawls/ whatever.

Pretty ironic that last week Artest was asking for a month off, and now he gets 10.

I'm pleased you made the Kermit Washington reference.

And I'm pleased you found a picture. I swear, I looked for a pic forever, but couldn't find one! Perhaps I should have just gone with a rebus...

Really good book, btw....

Um, you guys on this 'ballboy' argument are missing the main point, and that's that big boy Artest didn't drop holmes...dude took one in the grill and kept coming. So, now along with being suspended for the season, now ain't nobody gonna be afraid of this dude.

At least now Artest can focus on his soon-to-be-multi-platinum rap career.

I'm late on replying to this thread, but that fight was the best fuckin thing ever. Such entertainment. I caught it after watching the Laker game... and I sat there in pure shock.

The next game between the Pacers & Pistons is going to be a damn good one.

You know, it's too bad that Lattrell Sprewell and Kobe only choke people when there are no cameras around - Otherwise they would have enough footage for those "When Athletes Attack" specials I so desperately want to see...

I think:

Artest's suspension - just right. Dude started the riot.

S. Jackson's suspension - not enough. He was a psycho. He had nothing to do with it but went nuts. I am so happy he's no longer on my team. What a punk.

J O'Neal's suspension - way too long. He only punched a fan who was ON court illegally, and even then, everyone says that dude had just gone after Artest. His edginess was rather justified considering someone threw a chair at his head moments later. Given Monica Seles and the baseball ump incidents, I really think he got shafted on this one.

Ben Wallace - should've been more - not because he was the worst offender, but because the Detroit fans should have to "pay" in some way. Now I don't think it'd be fair to dock him pay for a longer suspension, but it would've shown something to the jackass fans.

i don't know man, it seems like you want to penalize wallace, and by extension detroit, because Artest can't act right. i hope that they reduce o'neal's suspension, and i wholeheartedly agree with you on jackson.

did anyone catch artest's interview on the today show this morning?
if anyone had any doubts before, it is now painfully obvious that this guy is really not very bright. he could not complete a thought or answer a question. and he kept holding up a copy of the cd (he produced?) trying to hype it.

In my opinion, the suspensions only accomplish one thing - that the home team fans can throw stuff at the opposing team's players in order to provoke them, thus getting them suspended for at least 25 games. Helps the home team out. It's bullshit, the home team should be penalized in some way like having to play at least 5 to 10 home games behind close doors. In European Soccer Leagues, when the home team fans are unruly, the league makes the home team play without their fans watching them. A good rule in my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Look at what hapened to Roma after a similar incident. That would put pressure on the Pistons org to insure this doesn't happen again.

dude. yeh. they did a piece on this on cold pizza this morning. now that artest has all this time off, he can devote more time to his label or whatever. Allure used to be on Mariah Carey's label til they got kicked off. so he goes from punching fans and being suspended to lending a helping hand to the music industry. what a hooker.

Ron Artest is a moron for fighting, but it seemed like they were egging him on...
Still, he's a good player and, after this whole mess, there's no way he can play in Indiana again. I hope Isiah does his first smart thing since taking over my Knicks and gets Artest for 25 cents on the dollar. We forgave Lattrell when he played well for us - we can forgive Artest too...

Wait till the lawsuits are filed... I think there will be some serious penalties to guys like the one in the Wallace warm up and Ben Wallace's brother (the 350 lb. guy who hit Freddie Jones from behind).

The NBA would never play in an empty arena... that's a huge loss of money and an unacceptable business practice.

i think wallace got off too lightly. he and stephen jackson were pretty much the only dudes flipping out before the cup incident.

The Detroit Pistons would lose money not the NBA. The NBA will lose more money if the game continues to decline in popularity. If you want to get the message across and have Detroit penalized for their part (and their fans) in the incident it would be the smart thing to do.
