and Radiohead does? I can see Bends era Radiohead, but Kid A honestly speaks to your life? I am not a Radiohead hater. I just think of the two, Beck's music would pertain to the everyday life. Especially since his music is pretty vaired.

Radiohead, but I hardly ever listen to either anymore.

I just like OK Computer and Kid A better than anything by Beck, and I've been completely played out on Odelay since about the end of '96.

'Odelay' is a favourite album of mine. But I go for Radiohead because as some critic (possibly Winckelmann) correctly said "All great art is serious."

Incidentally I think both are on the slid. ''Guerro' was very poor and Radiohead have released three albums in a row each poorer than it's predecessor. I liked Kid A and Amnesiac but it's still not an encouraging trend.

Do I really have to choose because really they both are brilliant? I’m from Southern California and Beck is just about the best thing that has ever happen to us without giving it too much thought.

Radiohead, on the other hand, are the most important band in rock and roll at the moment. I might even like a band or two more but they are one of the best bands we have. It’s a great time in life when you have bands that are this important and each release is an event. I know not everyone likes them, just like I’m sure not everyone liked the Beatles, and I’m not saying they are on that level but are as close as you can get today in rock.

Personally, every time I happened to put them on I remember why they mean so much to me. They just have that certain something that is hard to explain but is felt deep down. Kid A is the best album for the 2000’s and even though we have five years left I don’t see anything that will change that but who knows?

its like trying to pick your favorite child.

both bands are 'must' own bands for me.

the one that gets played at any given moment depends on MY mood, not how good either respective band is.

I gotta go the grumpy gus route and say never once have I found Radiohead to be "exciting." And I don't give a titlick about "important."

I respect them a lot and think they always challenge themselves to stretch the bounds of musicality. But that stretching makes for things that aren't really very song-like sometimes, plus there's Yorke's John Lovitz As Annoying Man voice. Works sometimes, sometimes just tedious.

I'm also not that big on wallowing in alienation and "hollow desperation" unless there's a sense of humor or slight coyness or ironic approach to the commentary.

Proving or reiterating my argument that they should hang it up.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Seriously, getthegun,getthegun,shootshootshootshoot.

Not Kid A so much (I'm pretty sure I don't even own it), but of the overall output, more so than Beck. What can I say, I dig the existential despair.

Radiohead because of the Bends alone.

and my reasons are because:
1. i'm biased because i am obsessed with radiohead
2. the bends is my favorite album
3. thom yorke is god.

i do love beck as well. and yes, what beeok said, he is one of the greatest things musically to happen to southern california. i also love beck because he supports a lot of the independent scene in this city, not to mention he is also a talented musician & performer. i can't wait to see him in july!

now if radiohead can hurry up with that new album and go on tour again, i can be at peace.

Radiohead.

For some reason they just click with me, and unlike Beck I still listen to them regularly (not the last two albums though). I'm always surprised how popular they have gotten, and I am afraid it may be affecting their music in a bad way.

I like them both but I dont have much use for Radiohead beyond The Bends and Ok Computer;

So I'll pick Beck. I like something about all of his records....
