Give me a fucking break. If Bush is so damn stupid, then it shows just how bright the fucking Democrats are for running Gore and Kerry.

I'm no Bush supporter, but I'll also say that a great deal of the anti-Bush vitriol is because he's not spectacular leader nor politician, yet the Democrants still can't defeat him. Don't give me any crybaby bullshit about Florida or Ohio, either.

If the Democrats had run even a half-ass candidate in either election, Bush would be watching "Crook & Chase" reruns in Crawford. Don't blame the much maligned Christians and war mongers, blame yourselves for saddling up behind pandering shit stains like Gore and Kerry...and Reid and Pelosi.

I could spend two months trying to write something better than this and I would still fail. This is exactly how I feel.

Yeah, I'm sorta of the mindset that, putting all cynicism aside, you've got to have something going on upstairs to become President of the United States.

I never totally bought the Quayle is dumb stuff either.

Well, it isn't THAT hard to be a Senator. Especially when your dad is a Republican wheel. You know? As for being a congressman, Jebus. Let me tell you I have met many of them and many of them are box-of-rocks dumb.

In campaigns, it is sometimes better to not be the sharpest drawer, because you tend to out think yourself. Bush is at least smart enough to listen to his folks. Kerry just hired every consultant on the planet and followed a different one's advise every day.

The Republican party excels in marketing future candidates, and the Democrats absolutely stink at it. Howard Dean and Kerry? C'mon, and Clark was such an obvious "he's a general that'll appeal to the "nascar dad". And they need to give up any illusions of Hilary. I mean if the election was tomorrow who would be in it? I've already thinking McCain or Jeb, and the only person I come up with for the Dems is freakin' Hilary. What a joke.

Clark's ego got ahead of him. He's a nice guy, fairly capable, but he wasn't eisenhower and Bosnia wasn't WWII. The minute I heard about this I thought he oughta go home and run for Gov'nuh of Arkansas.

He'll try again, but he'll be shocked by the lack of support this time around. And though not as easily paintable as a phony as Kerry, he has some ethical problems in his jacket that no one had a chanc eto bring up.

Eisenhower.

Yup, and before him you've got to go back around 70 years to James Garfield. And he was shot!!

Sen., It's not that their guys aren't capable. If the dems could have marketed Clark , and he was a household name before the election started than there might have been something. I just think the Dems have a poor eye for talent, and it might be b/c they don't know where to go right now so their just looking for a port in the storm. So they'll latch on to a Hillary with false hope, and think they 've got something (or an Al Gore or a John Kerry).

I see what you are driving and you are correct. The Republican bench is pretty deep, and the Dem bench is not, to be sure. This is a many fold problem, and has been getting progressively worse. If you look at the presidency, you have to be a White Male to win it (sorry kids, its true) and most of the white males have either left the party or been left BY the party. Or, in the case of the South, all the good ones have retired or been voted out. In short, we're pretty well fucked for a good long while.

You know, I really have to stand up here. Just because the guy isn't a good public speaker doesn't mean he's a moron. Put me in public, in front of a crowd, and ask me to speak and I stumble and stammer and make a fool of myself just like Bush does. Does that make me a moron? No. It just means I'm a bad public speaker. It bears no reflection on what does or does not go on inside my head, nor does it Bush's. I'd bet that, in writing, Bush is able to put forward his statements with clarity and ease, which is how I'm most comfortable communicating.

How you handle public speaking is inconsequential. A man of presidential caliber ought to be able to think on his feet and answer questions spntaneously and without a script.

I don't care if someone speaks well in public or not. I do care if my president behaves publically as if any complicated topic troubles him and pisses him off, as if he can't be bothered to have more than a gut reaction to any given topic.

He's president. It's his job to prepare, to know what he's talking about and to be able to relate information coherently.

Instead he talks as if anyone who questions his "rightness' about all things is just an annoying dweeb who's getting in his way.

Word. It would be hilarious to watch Bush navigate the mindfield of Question Time like at the British House of Commons. Now Clinton could just go on autopilot and ace that shit.
