And before I knew this, the only claim to fame that my hometown could lay claim to was that Richard Marx was raised there.

Finally... someone COOL.

(No, I never met either.)

He's on the right.
He was also in Stripes (which he co-wrote)
And a bunch of other movies (some of which he also co-wrote)
An SNL and Second City alum.
Brilliant guy and funny as hell.

Since I have no real "hometown" I'll offer Frank Thomas as being from Columbus, GA and Hank Aaron,Satchel Paige and Jimmy Buffett being from Mobile, AL

I forgot... Michael Jordan lives near my parents, too.
Saw him at the vide store once back in '89. He was friendly enough.
So, I guess that's cool.

John Adams and John Quincy Adams are from my hometown.

Howard Johnson's and Dunkin Donuts started there.

Derek Lowe used to live there up until he was traded.

Children's author Beverly Cleary grew up in the little town of 700 that I spent most of my formative years in.....she even has an Autobiography out called: "A girl from Yamhill"
