A co-worker and his wife can't make it tonight for her show and he's offering me 2 tickets for $30. I honestly don't know if she's funny or not.

What say you? Worth seeing her?

Steve

Fuck no. She's even less funny than Janeane Garafalo.

She can be funny somtimes. But it'd be even funnier to punch her right in the face.

Margaret Cho represents the worst of female comedians, in my opinion. Yes, she's smart and witty, but I hate female comedians that go on and ON about their insecurities, and Margaret seems to excel at that. Jesus, there's more to laugh about than the size of your ass.

I think this is a typical guy thing, as my husband hates female comedians too. He jokingly says that all they talk about is how horrible men are and their periods.

Wanda Sykes is pretty damn funny. Sarah Silverman? Eh, I could take her or leave her.

It's not a typical guy thing. There's lots of good female comedians out there - but Margaret Cho isn't one of them.

I've seen both her two major releases on dvd and can't say I laughed at all. I wouldn't waste $30 on her. Go get some lobster or something.

Thanks for the input, guys. I passed on the tickets. I don't know that I have any opinion one way or the other on female comedians, although, off the top of my head, I can't think of any that really knock me out. I did see Wanda Sykes a few months ago and she was funny although a bit unpolished.

I would compare Margaret Cho to stepping in dog shit, but at least stepping in dog shit is funny when it happens to someone else.

I'm not big on too many comedians in general, much less female ones. Wanda Sykes & Amy Poehler are good, as is Eddie Izzard. Lizz Winstead's Daily Show involvement was very good, but I don't recall if she's still on board.

If I could find a way to express my disinterest (not in this thread, but rather, in seeing Margaret Cho) better, I would.

But this'll do.

you can't imagine my discontent when my friend gave me the "notorious c.h.o." dvd as a bad santa gift a couple of years ago. there's a reason why i hate her, and this did not make it the situation any better.

she used to be funnier and i think there are a lot of gay in-jokes which don't always appeal to everyone. when i saw her once she did a great physical impression of being finger fucked by a female midget on a lesbian cruise.

currently i think tina fey, miya rudolph and amy poehler (that one legged model bit killed) are brilliant.
kirstie ally's show is phenomenal.

ellen is a sap.

edit: oh yeah. save your money.

I liked the first Margaret Cho movie, I Am the One That I Want, but her next two movies have gotten more and more sleazy and low-brow. I used to like her a lot more, but I think she caters far too much to her San Francisco gay scene-like audience.

People that always hated Cho and Garofalo...I have no room for you in my life. Though if you like Sarah Silverman, you're still fine by me.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. Is she also the one that does the bit where she says, "This is my entire history of anal sex." And then she turns around (with her back to the audience), looks over her shoulder and says, "What are you doing back there?"
