I like it ok but initially it's a little too sweet for me. I think I've been drinking regular diet for too long now. I'm going to give it more of a chance but as of right now I still prefer the regular diet.

Haha. Apparently this is an Annapolis thing, because I started the exact same thread a few weeks back.

Hey djdan, you going to that Oranges Band show on 7/1?

I'm down with the new record so I'd like to. I work 3 nights a week though so my shows are slim pickings. Did I tell you I have a show on RNR on Saturday nights now?

I got your email, but I have to install the software for the stream before I can tune in, and I've been either alternately lazy or busy.

Dude, you're in Annapolis. Turn on the radio. Or did you move, hence the Elvis Fu/Memphis reference. Forgive me. I'm slow.

I know it's that easy, but I don't have a radio near my living room, and I'm not going to drive around all night. I get ZERO radio reception in my bedroom.

I've tried it and I've tried Diet Coke Zero and I prefer the standard Diet Coke. Both Splenda and Zero leave a weird, kinda disturbing burning-chemical feel in the back of my mouth. I just don't find either all that pleasant to drink, but if I were forced to choose, Zero would get the nod from me. But I'd rather stick to regular Diet Coke, thank you.

Either drink Regular, caffienated, sugar-laden, Original Coca-Cola, or drink Gatorade or Propel, or water.

Fuck that diet shit, that shit will kill you. Just from the sheer horrific taste.

Yes. Yes it will. The aspartame tastes strange, and so does Splenda. If you're going to drink/eat things that are bad for you, at least it should be real. Cause at least then it's bad and fairly natural, instead of bad and lab-produced as well. I have enough ways to get cancer, thanks.

I drink Diet Coke like some of you drink alcohol. I hate water from places that aren't my house, and won't drink water without ice so bottles are out, so I drink soda. Were I to drink regular Coke, even if I didn't think it was really gross tasting (ha ha - the irony, huh?) I would weigh 400 pounds in no time. Not only do I not like the taste of "regular" Coke, I don't like the way it feels - it leaves a sticky residue on your teeth, like you've just had a sucker.

And you'd have to drink a ridiculously high amount of diet soda to even have a chance of getting cancer - thousands of cans a day. The study that was done tested rodents with a dosage equal to 1000 cans of diet soda a day and they were fine.

I'm just not paranoid about cancer.

I quit smoking cold turkey two years ago come August. That was my biggest cancer contributor right there. I try to eat right 5-6 days a week, and dammit, if I want a chemically altered drink a couple times a week to break the monotony of water, so be it.

And, no, it doesn't. It only tastes "strange" to you because you're thinking "this doesn't taste exactly like sugar." Trust me - if you drank it all the time, the regular drinks taste very strange - very wrong - and not the other way around.

Some significant contradictions to your statement there, buddy.:)

Diet Barq's Root Beer
Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi
Diet Dr. Pepper

Not to mention, the 5 lbs. of sugar left out of the diet drinks can neither cover my teeth in sugar-goop armor nor be the cause of significant weight gain(due to overindulgences).

I'm a fan of the Mountain Dew Throwback because it uses real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.
