i've met him a few times, which isn't really that hard since he's at every event hanging out. I'm pretty familiar with his work, having gone to a bunch o'shows that he's put on. what are you looking for? Have you tried the website?

I know z could offer more insight as to the daily operations over there than I could...

i've been to his site - and have tried to get in touch with him before in regards to booking, but to no avail. I think it's the type of thing where the guy has a lot of email and shit to sift through on a daily basis and may have to ignore emails from bands he hasn't heard of.

I'm trying to get Hospital Grade onto a show he already has booked in August.

i've emailed him before in regards to some shit or another and i remember him being pretty quick (a day or two) with a response. Maybe say you've got a ticket question in the subject line.

he works at spaceboy? i should probably stop talking so much shit about the employees there then, huh? those guys are such a bunch of pretentious mongos, though.

the two dudes who i assume are owners look grumpy, but once you ask them a question they seem really happy.

If Philly got Hiroshimized today, no one would miss it.

Discuss.

i met sean way back in the ska days. we weren't friends, but just recognized each other from all the shows. when the big cd rip-off happened and i went to college, i stopped going to his shows. then when i moved back to the area, i started going again. he's an all right guy, but totally busy. he's kind of tall, has a brother that looks just like him (and is most of the shows as well). i don't really know how else to describe him. i didn't know he worked at spaceboy, but have seen him there enough. and doesn't one of the making time djs work there too?

i don't really know any tricks to get in touch with him, though. i guess i'd just email again. and again. he's got to answer sometime.

well, Senor Sensitivo, its actually two sided:

1. Just straight, normal run-of-the-mill clowning.

2. Philly is the city that wishes it was......no offense guys, im from fucking Atlanta for chrissakes, but despite its size, Philly wants to be NYC, it aint....and it ain't Chicago, Boston, DC, LA, or even ATL either.....Sorry, I mean you, one of my best friends of all time lives there. Its not my personality crisis---its Philly's

Philly is better than Boston, DC, and about 10 times better than that strip mall hell they call Atlanta.

So yeah, eat a dick homo.

Having been to all of the aforementioned cities, and spent considerable time in most of them, I can say that Philly is one step above being included in the LooGAR Travel Armpits of America Tour along with Newark, Detroit, and Oakland.

Plus, you mooks have all proved my first point. Go back to wishing you were a real city.

i guess i did overreact a bit reading about my friends and family being "hiroshimized". nice call, dickhole. i understand you're joking, but try some tact when bringing up the topic of the perceived "identity crisis". Something along the lines of "philly thinks its NY' would suffice. From there a rational discussion is a lot easier.

i'm not gonna sit here and defend this city because i don't really care where you file it. everyone's got perceptions of cities and i'm not gonna change yours. i'm sure as hell not gonna bore you with mine. but use some sense fer chrissakes.

no disputes with that j.s.

But honestly, don't you think that the town has an identity crisis? I'm being serious, and I've actually had this convo with my boy Rory from there before.

sure New York is bigger and more important.
but i don't walk around caring about that.

is philly flawed? sure. Do i think about moving to NYC? no.

i'm not sure what you mean by identity crisis.

nahhh, dude im not gonna clown your town---its really more of an observation.

and yeah, that whole subway thing is pretty cool---too bad the people who designed the subway AND highways in the ATL were obviously smoking some Raz-grade ice........

a couple of things -

-Modem, it's pretty difficult to get onto an R5 show, but I'd say just be patient and Sean will get back to you if he has time. Though, you might be better off contacting the the Khyber.

-There are too many rednecks on this board.

-I never liked Philadelphia until I started to spend a lot of time there. There's been an awesome youth revitalization that is pretty friendly, but it's getting a little too close to hipsterism.

Are you really going to pretend that Cotton's off on this? First of all, if your post was "run-of-the-mill clowning" then point 2 would be unnecessary. Secondly, even the most harmless crack at Atlanta would result in a Yail/Gar/Busty lynch mob and a(nother) ruined thread. You can pretend he's being more sensitive than you would here, but nothing you've ever done bears that out in the least.

Actually, clowning is clowning, but I had a genuine interest in what Philly folks thought of the perception of their city.......

Also notice that I completely ignored the posts by Kid Dynamite and 888 that are basically personal insults.....

And if you think that I am ruining threads....well, its your board dude.....
