So I got my 2nd Menomena disc in the mail today from CdBaby. The first disc I bought was cracked from some used Amazon person. Not only was this cheap, shipped quickly, and not broken, but they also gave me a free cd because I'm a repeat customer. Now it's more than likely I won't ever play this cd in my player (The Hopefuls-prypee), but the gesture is appreciated. Too bad this place doesn't have much that I'm looking for. Just wanted to mention that.

CDBaby are awesome. I try to buy lesser known bands from them. They deilver fast and the free CD is just gravy. I don't think I've ever kept any of them though but like you said, it's appreciated.

Unless you must get a "known name", I don't see how that could possibly be the case (and even then...they got, for example, Stan Ridgway and Thomas Dolby). They have such an wildly insane variety, they can't possibly not have something you want. Just plug in some favourite bands, listen to the samples, and you're bound to find something you like.

I have a hard time keeping my orders under US$100 -- and I usually start in the US$5 bin.

I have a friend who usually orders several hundred dollars worth of stuff.

My only gripe is that I never got my free CD. Told 'em about it and they said they'd send it. Never got around to it I guess. I've only bought 3 from them, Stand Ridway, Marc Moreland, and some dreampop/shoe gazer band so it's not gonna be the end of the world but it did make me a bit nuts at the time.
