Apparently it's not every time, but it's done it on two different machines with the same ad.

Imagine that, now I can't get it to work. Bah.

I got it on Firefox at home and IE at work, which leads me to believe it's Flash based.

hmmm. i had this problem 2 weeks ago. BIG TIME.
and i first noticed it on here.

it really sucked.

i spent a good 4 hours running a couple anti-virus softwares, spybot, adaware, etc. (i had found a couple of trojans.)

then, in my add/remove programs i found a curious program that wouldn't let me delete it. it said i had to go to a website and download their uninstaller. i had my computer tech friend look at the sight and he said he thought it seemed okay....so i went ahead and downloaded their uninstaller and i've been fine since.

then i downloaded firefox.... and so far <fingers crossed> i seem to be okay. <knock on wood>

Which of you are Mac users? That may play into it. Here are the possible scenarios, by likelihood:

1. Some of you just have spy/adware on your computers, and it's actually unrelated.

2. Some hacker put some code into obner that installs a worm on your computer which is opening popups when you visit.

3. Some hacker put code on obner which opens popups when pages are loaded, but mysteriously doesn't touch some computers (this is almost certainly not the case).

I hope it's the first scenario, but i'll investigate.

Yea, I would guess the first scenario myself. I've never seen a popup (blocked or not) using either Firefox or IE.

Exploder user, no pop-ups.

And for a very, very good antispyware program, the best thing I've found is microsoft's beta version on their website. It's still free, and works very, very well. My old sidejob was at a computer place, mostly building pc's, but we did a lot of junky work on old boxes too, so I had the opportunity to sample most of the freeware out there and that one from MS worked better than anything else did, hands down. It gives you options to NOT verify your version of windows, and to not send reports about what it found (the idea there being to build a database from user inputs about what's out there). Mine runs every 2am.

Crazy shit.

No pop-ups here, though.

Do these pop-ups show up on the first Obner page you visit, or all Obner pages?

It was just the index page the first time when I came into work.

I wouldn't have thought anything of it but it did it once yesterday at home as well.

Maybe I have a computer virus or spyware living in my body.

Well, if you only get the pop-up on Obner's first page, it could be caused by the webpage you were visiting right before, which might execute a script upon you leaving the page. At least I think that's possible.

the E-clap. And if anyone could get it, it'd be Fu. E-whore.
