It's a goddamn appreciation thread for fuckin' Soundgarden. I loves me Chris Cornell. Everytime I hear their tunes, I fuckin' wanna stand on top of an amp and raaaaaaawk out in front of the world!

Soundgarden never got enough apreciation. It's probably because of Audioslave.

Superunknown is one of the few records that I could listen to back then and can still listen to now.

i like 'em. Superunknown is the way to go, but they sprinkled in some hits before and after. CC's solo album though had one great song and then a bunch of filler.

Great band. Still consider them one of my alltime favorites. I even liked the album after Superunknown.

I've always sorta liked them, but didn't fully appreciate them until very recently, when someone pointed out that just about every song they do is in an odd time signature. Where the L have I been? I love odd time signatures. So that jacked them up several notches above the rest of the grunge crowd, and now I'm trying to find out what happened to Kim Thayall.

Anyone know?

The time-signature thing isn't so amazing to me, it's that they manage to use such strange signatures and make them sound so normal and practical that is interesting. Matt Cameron was an underrated drummer.

I always cite "Limo Wreck" for this. 3/4 isn't an odd-time signature as such, but the song is in five-measure phrases. Awesome.

I just read something the other day...he's got a "real world" job now - I think as an engineer. Still in Seattle, if I remember right.

Yeah, I really like Soundgarden. Especially Mister Cornell. mmmm. He's a great singer. Although some people would argue his style is a little wanky, I think he kicks ass.... and he ain't too hard on the eyes neither... especially post-long hair.
