this is Portland, Cap'n... aka Beervana. Some people come to work every day in shorts during the summertime too. There aren't a lot of suit-and-ties around here.

incidentally, one of our staff is leaving for a new job today, and there are supposed to be beers on the back patio at 3.

You know, the wife has serious designs on us moving out there in 2 years when we graduate. And so far, I like what I'm hearing.

Do not, however, portend to tell WI how beer is to be made and consumed. Yes, you're well advanced on the Beer path, but you have other things like a good job market and natural scenery to compete with beer for your attention... we do not.

Hmm, I dunno about that good job market part... ;) I'll concede to New Glarus brewing... damn, and I can't get that awesome cherry beer here anymore. btw, interesting book to check out if you're into beer:

actually, I subscribe to Budget Travel magazine, and there's a really nice spread on Portland in the latest issue. Maybe I'll scan it and post it soon, as I know some folks are going to be visiting this area soon.

I used to have a job at a marketing company that specialised in food and drink placement in supermarkets.

You basically didn't need to do any food shopping because you go so many freebies.

Unfortunately I was only there until someone that was ill came back...probably from eating to much chocolate.

i wish i could say the same about my job, i absolutely hate it right now so i've been applying elsewhere.

although- we do like to drink, and have happy hours all the time. and that means free drinks every time because my bosses pay for everything, which is awesome. speaking of, they're having one today in t-minus 1 hr. 24 minutes.

slowest. day. ever.

I've done some of my best code while UI.

Of course, I've gotten too old for that shit now, but back in the day...
