To get to work every day, I wrestle myself downstairs to my office, kinda like Ed Norton and Brad Pitt at the end of Fight Club, and then force myself at gunpoint to produce works of fearless genius.

Tired but without the crushing sense of dread I used to have.

I'm stuck in traffic 2 hours every day to get to and from work, M-F. That's 10 hrs/wk, 40 hrs. a month, 480 hrs/year= 20 days. 20 days of my life a year are wasted commuting to and from work. BAH!

Bus takes about an hour... It's a 25-30 min. drive into work, but I just can't stand shoving myself into L.A. traffic first thing in the morning...

I think I'd hurt someone bad from too much road rage if I lived in Silverlake, and Santa Monica was only 12 miles from where I needed to go... but yet it takes an hour and a half just to get there.

And here I complain about Long Beach & Orange County traffic.

Philly public transit is pretty disgraceful, but at least work pays for it. And parking would be insane $$.

I don't think I could ever live in L.A. and live westside/work eastside or vice versa. It would just be too much to travel 25 miles in 1 1/2 hours. If I ever get a (or have to get a) new job, I'm probably just going to move...

How about the option " none of the above, I take an elevator cause my work is right downstairs from where I live".

:D

In the morning (in my sweet 1990 Geo Prizm):
walk to car (usually parked on Leland)
left on Leavitt
left on Lawrence
right on Western
left on Lincoln
left on Foster
right on Elston
Elston hits Milwaukee
Milwaukee to parking lot
left into parking lot
left at stop
right into the area of the parking lot that has parking spots
stop/park car
walk to office
put ID card in front of sensor thing
walk down hallway
right at hallway with elevators
elevator to 3rd floor (door to staircase is locked on the 1st floor)
turn left or right (depending on which elevator)
put ID card in front of sensor thing
left at first and only hallway
walk past Carol and Craig
right at empty cubicle
walk past Joyce's cubicle and turn right

Car (I'll follow Mike's lead):
Right out of parking space onto Parthenon Ave.
Right onto Oman St.
Left onto Long Blvd.
Right onto 31st Ave.
Left onto Poston Ave.
Left into Centennial Park (too many turns to list)
Right onto 25th Ave.
Left onto Elliston Pl.
Right onto Louise Ave.
Left onto Hayes St.
Right into Lowe's Vanderbilt Plaza parking garage.

Entire trip takes 5-7 minutes depending on whether or not I catch a green at the 25th Ave/Elliston Pl. light.

sounds like you walk, unless you run to the vator & out :P

i take the bus 60% of the time and the car 40% of the time, some walking is involved 100% of the time.

I work a whole 2 miles from where I live but I still drive:
Pennsylvania
Right on 11th
Left on Grant
Right on 2nd

When we move to our new office it will be all of 8 blocks away...I need some new walkin' shoes.
