I made reference to this in the What Are Your July 4th Plans thread. I'm totally down on this, and loving my month-old switch from the bastardfuckingcablecompany to satellite.

I haven't seen Sid & Nancy since '86, on the day I had the ultimate teenage rock&roll experience:

11am-3pm record shopping at Bleecker Bob's and St. Marks Sounds
5pm - 7pm Sid & Nancy at the 57th Street Playhouse
9PM - 2AM Iggy Pop at The Ritz (Dancing Hoods as opener)--got into a really cool convo with the dude selling badges in the lobby, seems he created my "The Jam" badge that I had picked up in London that summer
2AM - 6AM Bumming around Manhattan, drinking coffee at various diners
6AM - Back to Hoboken to catch the first train home, world of hurt from the 'rents for missing the last train home the night before and spending all night in the city

Was that the one with the red, white, and blue RAF "target" insignia with The Jam spraypainted across it? Kinda like this...

(... except without the shirt around it)?

'Cuz I had one of those affixed to my jacket lapel throughout my uni years.

Nope, mine was that "The Jam" script, but on a split black/white background, where half of the text was black on white, the other half white on black. I had the All Mod Cons target motif with the three members in front of it on the same jacket.

God bless free satellite cable, I heart IFC. I'll have to peep this out.

they need to show a few more movies...like maybe...

Decline of Western Cicilization
Ladies and Gentlemen Inrtroducing the Fabulous Stains
Breaking Glass
Rude Boy
etc...

or how about some old New Wave Theater programs

Sorry...one new special and two movies do not an entire punk rock month make...

I would like to see that conversation with John Doe and Steve Jones though. I should think about getting IFC maybe.

Yeah, I agree. What they're showing is good, but there should be a few more flicks involved. Henry mentioned "Decline Of..." & "Rude Boy" on his show, so I thought they might be aired as well. Doesn't look that way, though. :?

I think "Stains" is one of those movies were the rights are all screwed up with multiple owners...it may be the case that NOBODY can air that thing at this point.

And DAMN, Billz....if that ain't a life-altering day I dunno what is.

BTW - the "Punk Attitude" documentary got an "A" in Entertainment Weekly. Sounds like they go fairly deep into the genre...it's not all Pistols/Clash/Ramones.

I've mentioned it multiple times but Lech Kowalski's 'DOA' is a great punk movie/documentary.

Unfortunately I never label anything and it's somewhere in that great mountain of unmarked video tapes I have. I come across it every couple of years.

Looking forward to the "Punk: Attitude" doc. I tivo'd "Sid and Nancy" and "The Filth and The Fury." I'd seen both before. I made it about 30 minutes into S&N before deleting it... horrible movie. TFATF is one of my favorites though. God love John Lydon. (I'm in the midst of reading "England's Dreaming" and I think that doc is based on the book).

Sketch, on Henry Rollins' show on IFC, he recommended both Decline Vol 1 and Rude Boy. I've seen Decline Vol. 1 before, but I think it's hard to find these days. Never saw Rude Boy.
