Listening for the first time right now. I wasn't fond of their earlier stuff, but 3 songs in and I dig this.

Anyone check it out yet?

PM if you want the album.

I've been waiting for this for quite some time, I'm pumped to finally be able to give it a spin!

I'll be sure to let you know what I think, but if i had to guess i'll probably skew positive.

Ah, most of these songs are on the EPs... but this is good stuff.

Thank you for making my day.

Now if I can get my ipod fixed...

Some of the instruments are different and more production is added to the songs that were on the previous EPs. Good shit.

Okay, I'll stop now. Sorry. :D

There's only 3 new tracks on it, as opposed to a combo of the 2 EP's & CBC Sessions... but the other tracks have added production/instruments on it.

I can't stop listening to this, yay.

Yeah I've been obsessed with them. They need to tour in LA. Like, NOW.

i'm on spin #5, and the album continues to grow on me. only dissapointment is that i know pretty much all of these songs already, but the production and added elements definitely make it a different listen. still trying to make up my mind on the new version of grounds for divorce, which was my favorite song on the ep... it might just be one of those cases where i like the original so much that i wish they wouldn't have messed with it at all, with little to no patience to give the new version a chance. radiohead's motion picture soundtrack comes to mind in that category (bootleg to album)...
either way, this album rocks, i'm pumped to finally have it.

I like the old version of Grounds For Divorce better. But 2 versions is fine with me... the more WP, the better!!!

it looks like pitchfork is going to jizz all over this album in the fall, and rightfully so: http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-review ... rade.shtml

from today's review of their EP:
Quote:
As a promotional tool seemingly designed to simply keep their momentum afloat, it's half castoffs and doesn't do justice to the way their infectious poetics unfold across Apologies to the Queen Mary, where bar-room sing-alongs break into hymns for hungry ghosts and summer anthems are somehow born cliche-free. Still, for the curious, the two LP tracks should whet appetites for what's to come-- and judging the music purely on its own merits, that stands to be some fairly rewarding stuff.

Only thing I'm not liking is it seems the singer's vocals have been machinerized...no clue of the correct terminology to describe what I'm talking about.

on the ep's it sounded like he was singing/yelling right into my ears, now it sounds like he's doing it through a huge, metal microphone, then my ears. It makes him sound less passionate imo.

Any of that make sense?

Oh, and some of the guitar craziness seems toned down, which is weird considering Mr. Brock's involvement...I was kind of hoping for the opposite.

i'm still listening to this incessently, although I've come to the conclusion that I like certain songs better on the original ep. but it's not that big a deal, i'm pumped for when they come back to NY...

PFM gives it a 9.2. Time for either backlashing or going apeshit.

The obvious choice is going apeshit followed by backlash. That's how it is with everything Pitchfork hypes.

Everyone loves to jump on the bandwagon until they realize it's getting too big, at which point they all of a sudden hate it.

All these months later, I'm still really digging the album. and i don't intend to be part of the backlash, i don't mind if they get popular, their music deserves it. whether or not they can handle that remains to be seen....

After one listen, I renamed it "Funeral II". Obviously, I must keep listening.
