just dropping my random beer trivia bit.... from realbeer.com

BEER SPIKED WITH NICOTINE
A German company has launched a beer, NicoShot, it claims is designed to help drinkers stop smoking. "NicoShot is cigarette satisfaction in a beer without the smoke," according to a company press release. "For most smokers, three cans of NicoShot is comparable to an entire pack of conventional cigarettes. Best of all, there's none of the tar or carbon monoxide that comes from burning tobacco. Similar to nicotine gum, NicoShot is considered nicotine replacement therapy that provides a steady, controlled release of nicotine." Manufacturer Nautilus GmbH Laboratoriumsbedarf said NicoShot is brewed to the German Purity Law of 1516 and contains 3 milligrams of naturally derived nicotine alkaloids, 63 calories and 4.5 carbohydrates, with 6.3% alcohol by volume per 250ml shot can.

NO BEER? NO LUNCH
A lunch meeting between a leading parliamentarian in Belgium and counterparts from Iran was canceled because the beer-loving Belgian didn't care for a ban on alcohol. Instead they met for one hour of talks without a meal. "Even for the tolerant Herman De Croo, that was a bridge too far," De Croo was quoted in De Standaard. De Croo, president of parliament's lower house, had been due to entertain the speaker and members of the Iranian parliament during their visit to Belgium - famous for its diversity of beer styles. He said lunch had been canceled because the Iranians, who as Muslims do not drink alcohol, wanted their hosts to abstain as well. "I did not receive such demands in writing. But ... I was indirectly asked not to serve alcohol," said De Croo. A spokesman for parliament said that the Iranians would not have been expected to join their Belgian hosts in drinking or toasting. http://www.realbeer.com/news/articles/news-002614.php

PLEASE DON'T DRINK THE BATH WATER
An Austrian holiday resort offers guests the chance to swim in a pool containing 42,000 pints of beer. The Starkenber Beer Myth resort located at the medieval castle of Starkenberger in Austria's Tyrol region filled seven 13-foot long pools with the beer. Management contends that beer baths heal various skin diseases. Some guests reportedly have sampled the pool water during the swims. "I would rather swim than swallow, as we serve enough of a cold, fresh tapped beer on the bars next to the pools," said manager Markus Amann. http://www.realbeer.com/news/articles/news-002591.php

"Starkenberger BIERSCHWIMMBAD gefüllt mit Biergeläger - gebadet wird selbstverständlich nicht in reinem Bier, sondern in Geläger (abgelagerte Bierhefe)"

It's not finished beer in the pools, btw. It's sorta their leftover mash that gets fermented just enough to be "beery." So NOW I don't wanna drink it...
