You know you're old and a parent when you find yourself screaming that every so often.

My son received his first Cd player for his bday sunday and he's in heaven.

Of course his favorite cd right now is the Kim Possible soundtrack( a Disney Channel tv show about a girl spy). And he keeps replaying the title track over and over. And Over.

He keeps BLASTING the cd. Oh how funny.

Time to go check into the old folks house I guess..

Yeah, I've already "given" him a few albums to listen to instead. The Beatles, Wilco, Cheap Trick.

I'm workin on it. I'm working on it. But he keeps reverting back to his kids stuff.

Now he's listening to Kids Bop Gold. At least they cover some Beatles on this one. ha

When I was that age two of my favorite songs were "Up on Cripple Creek" and "Shotgun Willie".

Be glad that he's at least listening to music and it's not the shrieking din of some noisy toy that a relative gave him just to spite you. ;)

I'm still guilty of this from time to time... not listening to kids' tunes but listening to the same song over and over.

Nothings changed for me. Instead of my mother, my wife now tells me to turn it down. Hell, even my dog leaves the room.

Steve

edit:This is actually pretty funny. Uda will leave the room just as soon as she sees me fussing with the CD player.

I'd like to see a pre-teens NP thread on the board.

My nephew finally dropped his DMB and Phish phase. He came over to my house the other day and took about 40 cds to download on his laptop. Everything from VU to Stereolab, Brian Wilson to Wilco, NRPS to Dwight Yoakam and Freddie King to Dub. He promptly left for a year, half in Nepal the other in Africa. He's come along way since being an ankle biter.

Next June we shall see how those adventures panned out and what new music he may have picked up along the way.
