Going to see Mark Knopfler tonight in Atl. and I'm pretty excited.
He is one of my favorite guitarists and I'm a big fan of both his solo work as well as the mighty Dire Straits

I am a huge fan of Dire Straits and Knopfler. I've seen him once in Nasheville and he's excellent. His solo work has some great songs with very little filler. Oddly enough, however, Sailing to Philadelphia is my least favourite even though he had some big name contributions on there.

I harbour much love for that man's work.

Enjoy, Enjoy!

I love Sailing to Philadelphia as well as Dire Straits first disc. That is about as far as I got into the collection though.

Knopfler with and without Dire Straits is one of my all-time favs. His last two solo albums are both PHENOMENAL!

mark has one of the few instantly recognizable guitar sounds.

that's a thread i've been meaning to have.
i'm leaving, feel free to start it.

That's what I was afraid of, given Dire Straits' slow slide into sleepiness. I thought that much of Brothers in Arms was draggy, and then On Every Street put me right out. Why hire the drummer from fucking Rockpile and then hand him brushes?

Still love the other DS's. And the Local Hero soundtrack.
