Me too.
It sucks you in... like a $500 hooker.

But, oh my... how low has David Navarro gone?
He used to be a key member of one of the coolest, most subversive bands in the world. Now.... a REALITY SHOW HOST?!?!?!

the first 5 minutes of the first show (the 80's/90's flashbacks) were pretty good.

then it was okay first seeing this people sing...but that shit with the girl singing about her recently decesed father and signing all of that ad-lib sappy crap with the group hug at the end was almost a deal killer.

then it was on again last night, and after a long day i just sat there and watched it in a daze.....

Absolutely cringeworthy moment. Openly had to turn it when that was going on.

<----------has also watched both nights.

Some of the performances are fantastic train wrecks but there are about 3-4 people on there that are actually really good.

The chick that sang "Heart Shaped Box" last night is pretty damn good and so's the guy who sang "Hard to Handle". I think he's the oldest one at 36 but he's been good both nights.

I can't fault the guys for wanting to record music again, but why use the name INXS and then do a search for your lead singer on a reality show. I know INXS was just a pop band, but they were a damn good pop band and I can't help but feel it somewhat besmirches them somewhat for me. I don't want to hear someone else sing 'What You Need' or 'Kiss the Dirt'.

I think this is worse than those dumb 21st Century Doors. But as someone who watches some reality shows, I can understand how you get sucked in. And Dave Navarro? Seriously man, what the fuck? Pick up that guitar and make another Deconstruction album or something.

They're doing an American Idol/Big Brother type deal where they play new episodes something like 3 times a week.

Tonight I think they're going to boot another contestant.

my favorite moment was when they were reviewing one girl's performance and the first 3 comments were about her physical appearance.

Damn! I though I was the only person who owned the Deconstruction album.

It has its moments.

Incidentally, I'm a little dissapointed that I've missed the INXS show. Is it on again next week?

I missed it, cos I ain't watching shit else while real world's on.

Incindentally, a friend of mine is the dude Wil's cousin. She has been imploring me to watch and vote. I have done neither. 8)

well, it is a show and the winning, if im hearing everyone the right way: "get the opportunity to be inxs's new singer", it doesnt guarantee the position.

that being said, of all of the people on the show, this guy:

Image

is really the only one that, so far, seems like he could be the lead singer of this group of guys....

even though the rest of them are not terrible singers....

Um yes well... myself and two friends from work got together and watched it over a couple of drinks. We were all die-hard INXS fans growing up so it really just had to be done. What a way to instantly ruin your indie record store credibility (!) heh. We joked that we'd get fired for it.

Watched part of it last night as well... I'm totally rooting for the black guy. He kicks everyone's ass.

Oh gosh.... the above deserves a second one of these:

I wish Terence Trent D'Arby had continued on as their singer instead of just doing that one concert with them.

my fear is that these singers will be so garbage and make me remember/realize that Hutchence was a really good singer/frontman...

damn i was too busy to watch it.

THe All star game was on anyway, and if I could have watched it on monday I would have watched the Home Run derby instead.

But i did want to see it, just to see how far one of my favorite bands of yester-year had fallen.

yeh, having seen them a few times in the 80's, this is all a bit depressing.

Totally.

Yeah, we watched "Live Baby Live" on VHS after the first "Rock Star" episode. Fuck man, Hutchence was the bomb.

Hottest-man-(previously)-on-earth aside, he was a great singer; such a nice, full, soulful voice. He looked wicked on stage. He was just such a natural. Oh, and the see-through shirts were alright too.
Ouch.

Really? I thought he was pretty mediocre, and seemed more like a "solo artist" than a singer fronting a band. I would be very surprised if he makes it to the end. I think we'll see either that dread-locked girl or the "old" guy (don't know any of these people's names) as the choice that wins. That girl's actually got a great voice and very nice stage presence.

Did anyone else hope that when the first person got kicked off someone would say something like "I'm sorry, you're not INXS material. Here's your noose"?

Don't forget - a 30-minute episode tonight. I can't believe I'm getting sucked into this crap.
