Sounds interesting; basically he does the jazz treatment to a bunch of 80's/90's songs.

Article in todays Post:

No but I heard a bunch of clips of him being an open ASSHOLE to his band. Such lines as:

"I'm the only important one on this stage!"

"Don't make a fucking maniac out of me!"

"The guys (refering to the dudes in his band) get shirts, the guys get shirts!"

"I'm putting all of you on fucking notice! Play the fucking song like it's written!"

I mean going full on BUCKY!

Awesome.

I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit from this on the radio last week. It was... about what you'd expect, given the description.

(Deano) "You're Noooo body till soooome body loves you"

but with "I feel stupid ... and contagious... here we are now (hey!) entertain us" you kooky cat.

I've downloaded this and listened to a few songs. Some of them are good (Black Hole Sun, It's My Life, Wonderwall) and some are pretty awful (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Eye Of The Tiger).

I think there should be a ban on anyone covering Smells Like Teen Spirit. That song used to be good.

I liked Tori Amos' "...Teen Spirit" actually.

OK, NOW it's time to go home.

Yeah that was about one of the only good ones, probably because it came out the year after the original.

Yeah, I was just listening to it. Good novelty fodder, but not particularly brilliant. There were some arrangements where I just didn't get a sense of the chord structure of the original, and yet he was still trying to sing it that way. It sounded...off. And one of them -- a ballad, I forget which one -- he sings real high, and kind of girlish -- you wouldn'ta thought it was him.

Nouvelle Vague and Richard Cheese (seperate acts) did it first and better.

The arrangements are quite nice and well-recorded if you're into that sort of bachelor pad pap.

Exactly. I couldn't expect people to listen to it with serious interest, or anything other than a novelty. I saw him play Teen Spirit on Letterman and heard the Van Halen tune in a record store.

But I'd much rather listen to Richard Cheese. His 'Rape Me' beats Anka's Spirit any day.
