Since I got my first job at seventeen, I'd never been unemployed until they fired me at my last job.

It's been at least a month and a half since then and I've only had one interview.

It's getting to be a major pain on the bank account and I'm getting worried.

Unemployment checks are your friend. My longest was 10 months, but i'm still feeling the effects two years later.

My longest unemployment period was eight months. It was rather devastating to my ego, I'm not ashamed to admit.

I was totally unemployed for 3 months a few years back before finding a part-time job. It was 15 months and 600+ applications/resumes before I found a full-time job.

11 months. But really only felt the effects for about two of those due to unemployment, regular gigs, and friends (Bloor, the Cap'N, and my gf).

I'll never forget that.

When I worked for Philips they shut down my entire department and I was out of work for a few months while I looked for another job. Usually, I don't even consider this, because I got a really good severance package so I had money and wasn't really suffering.

2 years. Mainly because I was doing voluntary work that was much more interesting to me than anything I could have got paid for.

Eventually when I realised being in the recording studio was a bit like being a low level mafioso (all favours, no money) and it wasn't going to change I got me a real job at a certified accountants.

Mine was 9 months, but ditto on the effects.

10 years ago, 14 months, and that was in the middle of some other nasty personal stuff going on simultaneously. But for one friend, I would have been under the overpass on I-95. But I'm feeling much better now.

6 months about 2 years ago.

It was nice the first couple of months because I had money saved up to live on and I could take my time finding a new job.

After about 5 months when the money started getting tight and I was still getting turned down for jobs it became kinda stressful. Then again I wasn't exactly killing it on the job search end.

Also, it was a shot to the self esteem/ego after a while because i wasn't doing anything productive with my day. I'd go out on the weekends and tell people about that week's Dawson Creek episodes.

I could use another month off though.

I'm in it right now, my third month. I had an interview with a lab this week, but funding might be an issue. So far though, I'm enjoying this time off, it's the longest I've ever had, outside of summer vacations in school.

Did the school thing and lived off loans for 8 months last year. But they weren't quite enough. Maxed out the credit cards and now I 'm paying finance charges through the nose.

Not currently my favorite topic.

One of my part-time jobs is coming to an end (6 month contract) and I don't have anything lined up to fill the void.

Argh. I basically have 3 more weeks to find a job.
I don't really have much saved up... a little to float me till September maybe but that's it.

It's kind of stressful. I don't want to just find any old job. I want something I'll actually get into.

Oh well... I know it will work out... it's just a little worrisome for the moment.

I knew I should have tried out for "Rock Star: INXS" when I had the chance.
