I'll be the first in this thread to admit that i couldn't care less about negative Pitchfork reviews.

I was up at my dad's last night and he had last week's Entertainment Weekly sitting there. They reviewed the album and just ripped on them for pretty much just paying homage to their heroes with the album rather then making new music.

It was a pretty bad review.

I'm always going to be biased against them because the first time I heard of them was on MTV.

Don't blame them because you watch t.v., let alone MTV.

Read a book, listen to an album.

Try and write a pop song, and then tell me you're biased against them.

And for the record, I own Universal Blues and I wasn't impressed with it. I haven't heard the new one to even comment on it, but having not liked the first one, I doubt I'll listen to the second.

I think this one is better than Universal Blues, but still doesn't do much for me. I wouldn't change the station if it came on the radio, but I wouldn't turn it up or tap my foot either.

You need to listen to the record 5 or 6 more times. Then enroll in a course on non-fiction writing. Then punch a clock for a few years to gain life experience. Then scam free albums from your day job. Then consider writing for a jerkwater music website. Then think better of it and slink off into the night.
