Of course. Do I understand how you feel? I guess. Do I like it? No. I hate it when people I like get fucked over.

Fuck everyone! ;)

I end up in a lot of 3 year long relationships.

Hmm... short relationships. I was gigging in Florida with a bunch of orchestras my first year teaching, and I had this regular gig with Orlando Ballet. This troupe was in from Canada doing a two week run, and the first night of dress rehearsal, I ended up hooking up with this French Canadian ballerina. I thought she was a couple years older than me, she looked 23. She thought I was about 32. I was 21, she was 34, and it was a great education. Don't know where she is now... We had a damn good time.

Then there was this girl that was my stand partner from 7th-12th grade in orchestra. Seriously one of the hottest chicks at school, and she wouldn't give me the time of day, but I was always nice to everyone, and we ended up being really close friends. She was also the queen of the 3 day relationship, so I'd always end up being her sounding board. On the rare occasions when I wasn't in some long drawn out relationship, and she was single, we'd hook up. This lasted until we graduated college (same state, opposite corners). Then she disappeared a week after commencement, although we were supposed to hook up that summer for chilling out and hiking around. Got a card from her in Scotland, then no reply to the return letter. Turns out she was teaching English in Japan, but her family was stationed in Jacksonville, just 2 hours north of me, and she was home for Christmas. Finally got in touch with her that spring of my first year teaching. We racked up a big phone bill what with her in Japan, but I was always a little nuts over her. Then I lost my job in FL, no hope of getting another with the statewide budget cuts, so ended up back in IL, and she was in FL, and she ended up dating her brother in law (who we had gone to H.S. with, who was a major dick back then). She ended up marrying him a couple years ago, and the last thing I got from her was the invite to the wedding, but I couldn't get down to FL, I had a bunch of gigs. Now she's in law school, maybe she's out by now, and so's he. If you totalled up all the days we spent being intimate, it might come out to two weeks, but it felt like many wonderful years, because of the friendship. She had this uncanny ability of making me feel like I was handsome, smart, talented, and just plain wonderful all of the time. He's a lucky bastard.

O.k., i'm going to go have a beer.

things i do not need to be sharing with the board:
2-3 hours: my brother's wedding reception in Honduras. i remember little.
9 hours: in pittsburgh. i was picked up by a stripper while i was drinking alone at my neighborhood bar. she got me very, very drunk and we fed her pit bulls greek food. later that night she told me she had a boyfriend and i told her i didn't date strippers. hilarity ensued.
3 days: in Cinque Terra, met 2 british backpacker chicks that i ended up sharing a house with while i was there. we all got along a little too well, failed miserably at keeping in contact (though i still here from the one every once in awhile)
10 days: in pittsburgh. mt some girl at a party i had, we fell in love with each other, spent a week doing nothing but taking lots of drugs all night and sleeping all day. she got fired and i barely pulled off that semester. one night i came home from a club with her covered in someone else's blood and i told her we had to stop.
Bonus: ???: in pittsburgh once i woke up naked in a strange apartment. nobody was there when i woke up and i got the fuck out, leaving my favorite pair of argyle socks ever. i never got them back OR figured out whose place it was.

My shortest relationship was over negative three years (and by over, I mean negative 4 or 5 years). What do I mean by negative? Well, we never really had a relationship, so technically it's zero (went on one date, so perhaps you could say it was a couple of hours). But I was so smitten by her, that I couldn't date anyone else for three years after that. So she indirectly took me out of circulation for that long, hence, negative three years.
This is the saddest thing I've ever read.
No offense, it's also the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why you would let anyone affect you like that is beyond me.
Funnily enough, I agree. L, I knew it was dumb at the time. I suspect, by your use of the word "let" (as if I had any control in my feelings for her), that you don't fully comprehend my feelings at the time. Look up the word, "Limerence". Ironically, it was discovering that there was an actual word for what I was going through that helped me to finally get over it.

PS Thanks Busty.

Dated someone I REALLY liked for a year and a half. We split. She couldnt decided if she liked to kiss girls more than me. I gave up.

A friend of mine hooked me up with a friend of hers a short time later. Total Rebound, which is sad in and of itself. She was fun for a month, (goofing around and the like) then for some reason she just didnt interest me. I would ask her what was on her mind, and she would never say anything interesting. It was like dating a blow-up doll with an IQ of 30. Very dull. She was into some drugs, but never while i was around. She had Epilepsy and an occasional seizure. That was not fun. Scary...

About a year after we stopped dating I heard from her girlfriend that she died while on drugs during a seizure. Ack.

Only if it leads to a good story like winding up naked in a stranger's apartment and leaving argyle socks.

And then having Eddie Murphy show up at your door 20 years later, "hello, daddy".

i was thinking of making a list of all the girls who have broken up with me by not returning my phone calls, but i'm feeling ok about humanity right now and don't feel like ruining the mood.

A week before she decided she "wasn't feeling it." She had a really annoying laugh anyway and always smiles the same in photographs.

There was this girl in High School I had a crush on for 3 years. We were close friends like flirty close but never spoke to each other about dating. Then senior prom came around, which neither of us wanted to go to, but since most of our friends went we decided to go together. For a number of complicated reasons we ended up in a fight, probably due to the tension of actually possibly something happening between us.

Zoom 20 years forward and one of her close friends is now my Doctor. She asks me whatever happened between you guys. I told her it was a long story. She then tells me, "You know she always did have a huge crush on you." I was saddened and delighted at once. I responded, " You can tell her that I did, too."

I guess it was back when I was 24 and working as a photographer. A new girl came out from another studio as a substitute during a coworker's vacation. Met her briefly on Sunday night, then showed up to work the next day... she'd worn only a teddy under her dress so she could easily, um, unsheath her breasts to get my attention. It worked. For the rest of that week it was work all day, then play all night. Damn near died of dehydration and exhaustion. And never heard from nor of her ever again. Kind of perfect, really.

See, now you have to change your name to "Cinemax" .

Or "Penthouse Forum" .
