i'll be there from a.c. newman (or maybe even pelican) tomorrow. and then on sunday, my friend wants to go early, so we may be there by 2, but i'm going to leave after les savy fav to catch old 97s uptown.

so... first day reactions?

i got there in time to hear pelican from the street while i waited in the will call line that stretched down to washington. they sounded pretty good from there. i made it in to see the end of the m's, but didn't find them to be great. the singer's voice reminded me of someone else, but i couldn't place it. a.c. newman was pretty good, other than the first attempt at "on the table." andrew bird whistled with him for a song and then "the town halo" blew me away. i was humming it the rest of the day.

four tet sounded incredible, but way too loud. broken social scene was okay. i spent most of the go! team's set in line for funnel cake, but they were seemed pretty good by the time i actually watched them. prefuse 73 was atrocious. dfa1979 was about what i'd expected. we left before tortoise.

i met dave (dmb04) for the first time. i saw spencer (lock) for a few minutes before we got separated. i think i saw matt (spade kitty) during broken social scene, but got a case of the shies.

my friend and i ranked it a 5/10 on the way home. nobody was spectacular, but only prefuse 73 was amazingly disappointing.

Then this show would have been huge in 2002. What a stinker. I heard the first day blew.

My girlfriend, her brother and his wife all went yesterday and saw: Broken Social Scene, The Go! Party, Prefuse 73 and DFA 1979. Kate (girlfriend) said it was great and that people were laughing that she was so into DFA 1979.
