so i just went through all 50+ pages and ranked and reranked a bunch of shit, thanks to Haq for speeding that shit up (did you lube it with soy latte?) and props to the peeps for continuing to add albums (most of which is: A. unlistenable, B. doesn't exist, or C. could get you jailed for even mentioning)

so here is my proposal for the Charts:

1st we will probably need a new mod for the charts unless Haq has nothing better to do....dunno how all that works but I nominate anybody but me.

Anyways, why not divide the charts into two sections.....

Section 1 would be the "Obner favorites". These would be the albums that have achieved an arbitrary number of votes (say, um, 20 or so)

Section 2 would be the rest; in order for an album to get from Section 1 to 2, it will take campaigning, arguing, and possible illegal album swapping by the proponents of said albums to achieve the necessary ____ votes.

See, because I'm sure a lot of these albums are good (or even :gasp: awful), but i gotta hear 'em first.

Good ideas. It'd keep albums with only one or two votes from staying on the first couple of pages forever.

I'm not sure I see what you mean by dividing it into 2 charts, ie, how that would be different from just using the minimum votes filter.

I agree that we need another mod, but before we can, I have to program the page that mod would use. The very next thing I do will be the "edit an album you posted page," I just haven't had time to tackle it yet. Probably this week - shouldn't take too long.

Rather than having MORE moderators, I say we have LESS moderators, perhaps, say, getting rid of FT and Aural and giving whoever's left incredible super powers over the board.

I mean we don't want anything to get unwieldy.

Not that it matters, but I rated some things as low as 1, had a number of 2's and 4 and quite a few under-8's But puerile stuff is going to be some time coming on a favorites poll. There's lots of 1's and 2's out there. Eventually they'll show up.

As it happens, there are a couple of double entries out there that I've rated twice... and differently. Raw Power was an example... once at 10 and once at 9. It is all, as Albert said, relative. Relative to my state of mind, what other works I've just rated... and thank you H.Diesel for the ability to go back and change. For example, I am sure I'll demote Prefab Sprout to a 9, but I can't do it yet.

And, as long as I am delving deep into my internal rules for this that probably mostly just reveals a pathetic obssessive quality... I don't feature the jazz on the list... I voted for Miles and Trane... but it just seems wrong. Anything Miles or Trane touched was a 10 in this relativity...
