royksopp and basement jaxx last night= PHENOMENAL. seriously, that was the best show i've been to all year.

the first band that came on was bossacucanova, i only heard a couple of songs, but from what i heard, it sounded good. more like a live brazilian funk/jazz type band.

next was royksopp. i've been wanting to see them live, but wasn't what to expect... they do NOT disappoint. hearing "so easy" as it was twilight over the hollywood bowl was surreal... they played a good mix of stuff off melody a.m and the new album. i haven't heard the new album yet, but i figured the songs i didn't recognize were new... they actually sounded good.

basement jaxx. they are my favorite electronic act to see live. what can i say? pure energy, the whole crowd was up & dancing (thousands of people), and seriously, i'm still sore from dancing so much. what made my night was "oh my gosh" (my favorite b. jaxx track).

i'd write more but i'm totally out of it. anyway, just wanted to share... if you ever get the chance to see royksopp or b. jaxx live, DO IT.

A friend of mine and Busty's is moving out there, puma - forgot to tell you. She's very much musically up your alley, as well as Obner-curious.

No pictures of the show? Glad to have the write-up either way.

right on, right on. She's heard mention of Obner, and the other day we were talking about her move (aug 1st), and she said "are there any Obners out in LA?" Only some of the finest, I replied. It's funny - she's always curious what we think of certain albums, because she doesn't have a community like this to bounce things off of. I mentioned that the Wrens were getting a lot of talk, and she immediately downloaded an album, and was not impressed. But now Andrew Bird... that she loves. etc. I told her to just lurk like everyone else does.

What do they do for vocalists for Basement Jaxx? The last album was one artist after another doing the vocals. Inquiring minds want to know, etc.

they had guest vocalists that appeared on the albums: the rapper on jump n'shout was there, and 3 or 4 other chicks. ratcliffe & buxton were up there doing their thang while the vocalists rocked the shit out of everyone. they also had a full band.

i love when they played "where's your head at?" and people dressed as monkeys come on stage and were jumping around the stage everywhere.

only one song in the encore, but they had a full marching band on the stage... it was complete madness.

the songs they played (not in this order):
oh my gosh
where's your head at?
rendezvous
red alert
do your thing
jus 1 kiss
romeo
good luck
bingo bango
jump n' shout

and a few others i can't remember right now. sorry, it's kinda a half-assed review, i'm completely retarded today.
