Another MONSTER of military history is gone.

How are we going to know how to manage a quagmire w/o dude like Westy around?

This is off-topic, but your headline reminded me. What does it say about the reporting skills of not only the MSM but also the bloggers out there that it took them a couple weeks to realize that "Double Secret Background" was lifted from Animal House.

Regardless of your views on Vietnam the guy was a great soldier.

Served in WWII, commanded in Korea, and was THE commander in Vietnam. Fought the first war where the media had access to everything against a type of enemy that the US had never encountered before. Lessons can be taken from him by this current administration if they bothered to do so.

The only mistake he ever made was underestimating the resolve and the price the Vietcong were willing to pay. Then again we had never encountered this type of enemy.

RIP

This guys body should be burned in a trash barrel and sent out to see through the sewage system. A liar and a waster of American lives. True, he was a puppet in a larger scenario, but he did nothing to help the situation.

The "Good German" defense will still get you the noose at Nouremburg in my book.

I hope he made peace with his god.

His last words were-"With another 300,000 men I could have won the thing."
