I had sworn last year that I wouldn't spend NYE in LA again. Due to circumstances beyond my control, it appears that I'm destined to spend it in my hometown yet again. I'm looking for something interesting to do, something fun, something not terribly expensive.

What do you guys have planned?

My stock response to this question is "Hole up in a cheap motel room and smoke crack"

But, in reality, I will be in my friend E's wedding...Bloor will be there as well\, a long with many, many good friends. Should actually be pretty cool. Free booze, et al.

Liquid Soul is at Subterranean that night. After that, feel free to boycott Sub-T.

I'm grippin' hard on this. My two best friends are in-state from NYC and D.C. at that time and when they're home, The Chad becomes their entertainment committee. I can pull off a couple days, but Flint, MI isn't the easiest place to program some proper New Years madness.
I may just celebrate on New Years Eve eve to get the whole thing over with early.

Actually, that's a thought. I'll be ahead of the curve; a trendsetter of sorts.

Alright T, we gotta make this happen. Spread the word 'round your coast that Dec. 30 is the night to celebrate this year. Dec. 31 is officially PLAYED...

December 30th, eh? So, basically, I'll have TWO days to recuperate from drunken shenanigans. Hmmm...

Since I'm not supposed to drink, I plan on spending New Year's Eve crafting cheese sandwiches with religious icon faces imbedded in them then selling them on ebay until I'm able to make enough money to pay for a private care nurse who will resurrect me if I go into anaphylatic coma. Then I can drink again.

I hate New Year! Just what exactly am I supposed to happy and enthused about? Oh the date changed? I thought that happened every day. Fuck that. What a lot of fucking pish! New Year indeed.

I'm going to bed early so I don't have to see, hear or interact in anyway with deliriously happy arseholes who seem to think changing calendars is some sort of orgasmic experience.

Seriously what is that all about?

NYE is the one time I've been succesfully able to get out of LA the past 2 years. This year looks to be Vegas or Tahoe but, to be honest, I don't care as long as there are some good friends and plenty of alcohol around. Plus we're not in L.A....
Since my fam. is in town, I never get away for holiday breaks except this one, and I spent 22 years straight doing NYE in LA. I'm not looking forward to another one anytime soon

Yeah, I did the Vegas thing for quite a few years. It got old. My friends got old. And my younger friends don't have plans or are going out of town. I suppose I could spend it with my old schoolmates, they always have a small gathering but they all have kids. And, I don't wanna spend my NYE with kids. Kids aren't supposed to be around drunk people, which is what I plan to be. A drunk person.

Maybe I can find a good desert/mountain party to go to. Hmmm...

T, you could always go to Giant in Downtown and go see the Killers along with Paul Oakenfold & Mark Farina. ;) J/K. Did you hear about that? That is just WEIRD. A bunch of ravers mixed with hipsters. That oughta be interesting.

Anyway, 2 years ago after my ex ruined NYE for me, I vowed to NEVER spend NYE in LA again- last year was spent in SF... this year will be spent in Vancouver. I'm not exactly sure what we're going to do- but I do know that 1. I will be drinking, and 2. I will be drinking.
