So my brother just reminded me that our parents' 40th anniversary is coming up. These are people who aren't lacking too much, so finding a gift is usually tough...but for the 40th I'm sure we need to come up with something above & beyond. For the 35th we sent them to a bed & breakfast for the weekend, so that's an indication of what we need to do.

Any thoughts?

My parents' 30th was last year, and I took damn near all their wedding pictures and digitally restored them, fixing all the fades, scratches, tears, etc. that 30 years and a dozen moves can do to some pictures. On one I edited out her brother who had inadvertently wandered into the background of a candid shot.

Now they are saved on my PC and on some cds, plus they can be re-printed by a Photo Lab on new paper. She got duplicates of some and made a scrapbook out of them, which would have been impossible (or very unlikely) with the originals.

It was a lot of work that I would normally invoice, but damn it was worth it.

Actually, this topic is pretty useful for me too. My buddy's 1st anniversary is coming up and seeing as how I've known the guy for over 30 years and was his best man, I wanted to get them something nice.

Any ideas?

Steve

what I give my dad every birthday and Christmas these days-- LIQUOR.

Strange, I guess I'm an ungrateful child because I don't give my parents anything for their anniversary, and they've been married 36 years. I mean, is that wrong or something?
