I haven't seen many 'list' threads lately. What's the obner top 5 of 2005:

1. Spoon - Gimme Fiction
2. Sleater Kinney- The Woods
3. Stars - Set Yourself On Fire
4. Sufjan Stevens - IL
5. Iron & Wine - Woman King EP

I haven't bought too many albums this year. What's obner approved?

i seem to be the only one amongst my friends that doesn't care for that album.

i would go

andrew bird - the mysterious production of eggs
the decemberists - picaresque (i didn't think this album would hold up, but damn it still sounds fresh and exciting today)
belle & sebation - push barman to open old wounds (this may not count as far as "new" releases)
sufjan stevens - illinois
okervill river - black sheep boy

I keep forgetting about that. I definitely like it better than the Low album.

Yeah, I had to edit my list after seeing your smog inclusion. 'let me see the colts' is one of favorite songs of '05.

They sound like Keane to me on this album. That is, if Keane added guitar to their repertoire.

I'll second Los Decemberistas, Cold Roses, Josh Rouse, Deathray Davies and Stars.

...aka "what albums have you even gotten this year, Squirrgle?"

I'm very much behind in listing my 2005 purchases, so without the aid of that and just off the top of my head I'd say (in no particular order):

Mike Doughty - Haughy Melodic
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Shout Out Louds - Howl Howl Gaff Gaff
Stars - Set Yourself On Fire
Mountain Goats - Sunset Tree
