Yeah but if guns were being pointed at you, gun ownership statistics wouldn't be the first thing running through your head

But if I hear the word "police" by them, I will stop.

There are two possibilities in this case.

One - an intelligence operation fuck up mistakenly indentified an innocent man as a terrorist which lead to his execution by armed police officers.

Two - the man was killed on the whim of plain clothed police based on circumstantial evidence (dark skinned, wearing a jacket in warm weather).

To me both sets of circumstances are unacceptable. It should also be noted all eight bombs so far were contained in rucksacks, something the man wasn't carrying.

I'm also guessing here, but I'd imagine if the armed police believed him to be a suicide bomber they would NOT have identified themselves in order to get close enought to get a head shot. If they did identify themselves a bomber could easily set off his bomb.

I've certainly not heard any eye witness accounts say they heard the police identify themselves.

That's a fair point. On the other side of the coin, a bomber could have just as easily set off the bomb when he saw the guns. Running away into a primary bombing target increases suspicion exponentially regardless of whether they have a rucksack or not (also a fair point).

Don't run away when they tell you to stop. Problem solved.

Since they believed him to be a suicide bomber wouldn't they have used their 'head shot' shoot-to-kill guidelines to kill him anyway, regardless of him running or not?

As I understand it he wasn't challenged until he walked from his home to the underground station. Only then did the police act.

They wanted a "show" apprehension.

This is starting to remind me of the Charleston (SC) Police's capture of the North Charleston Rapist.

Last I heard, he was living in a VA hospital, after having sustained grievance injury in his collision with a police road-block... That he only encountered because the cops chose not to arrest him as he left his workplace, deciding instead to tail, then chase, him so they could have a Hollywood-worthy arrest.

I suppose the 'faith' aspect of this pamphlet covers the need for Conservatives to no longer be caught in hotels with their mistresses, the males dressed in panty and garter, the females wielding whips.

... But as Dan Savage has pointed out numerous times, in his single days, the kinkiest fags he met were buttoned-up Log Cabin types outside the bedroom/club bathroom/bath-house (wherever they happened to be making it).

So, maybe even if a renewal of Anglican evangelism, the kink would still fit.

The reason the Tories are absolutely no where (they couldn't even bet Blair!) is because when the smoke cleared from the 1980's it was clear they had governed the country for 10 years in a disgusting, squalid, frankly immoral way.

It's going to be an other 10 years before anyone who's not an insane cravat wearing lord of the manor even thinks about voting for them.

So good luck with your little initiative Conservative Party. Ha!

The police fucked up and killed an innocent man in a brutal fashion. If that's now acceptable, they I guess the terrorists are winning.

Further update from Daily Express news paper.

Scotland Yard came under renewed pressure last night as doubts grew over its account of the killing of an innocent man mistaken for a suicide bomber.

In the aftermath of the shooting it was claimed that Mr de Menezes, a Brazilian, vaulted over a ticket barrier and sprinted down the escalators to escape police. The 27 year old was said to have refused to surrender and to have been wearing a bulky winter coat.

But is has now emerged that:

- Mr de Menezes used an Oyster travel card to go through the ticket barrier
- Initially, at least, he walked to the platform
- It is believed officers did not properly identify themselves before firing
- He was not wearing a heavy jacket

It has also emerged that CCTV footage of the shooting, which could have been vital to an inquiry, will not be available because security cameras at the Stockwell Tube station, South London, were not working.

How convenient.

I typed it out the newspaper.

I'll scan it if need be.

That's cool. Everyone else is catching up. I find it interesting that the Daily Express gets the leak on this four days before everybody else does, though. If what this says is true, yeah, that's pretty fucked. What do we do about it, though?
