I suppose you could make it top 10 if you really wanted. I haven't started my list yet and it may come to that. We'll see what happens...play it by ear.

Handshake Drugs
At Least That's What You Said
How to Fight Loneliness
I am trying to break your heart
Red eyed and blue

hon. mention: misunderstood, california stars

that was 800x easier than a radiohead top 10. there are a lot of solid wilco songs but there aren't a lot that one really yearns for.

same thing i did with radiohead -- come up with a top 3 from each album, then figure out a top 5 (or 10)...

A.M.:
01 box full of letters
02 casino queen
03 should've been love

being there:
01 outtasite (outta mind)
02 i got you (at the end of the century)
03 hotel arizona

summerteeth:
01 a shot in the arm
02 she's a jar
03 i'm always in love
04 can't stand it
05 ELT

yankee hotel foxtrot:
01 i am trying to break your heart
02 pot kettle black
03 war on war
04 i'm the man who loves you
05 jesus etc.

a ghost is born:
01 spiders (kidsmoke)
02 company in my back
03 the late greats
04 muzzle of bees
05 handshake drugs

TOP 5:
01 a shot in the arm
02 she's a jar
03 i am trying to break your heart
04 outtasite (outta mind)
05 i'm always in love

cars can't escape is a great call.

christ for president and hoodoo voodoo are tons of fun, but not what i would put up near the top here. the tweedy vocal delivery on hoodoo voodoo is especially compelling- "I'll be yours, you'll be mine" gains so much more with the strained, squeaky way he puts them forth.

monday is such a great one but it's just too rocking for me to seriously consider it a "top" tune (whatever that means)

Ha...post of the month for me.

I still like "Passenger Side"... "you're the only sober person I know..." compressed language, great tears and beers countrified imagery, on the edge loserdom, court dates... ah, sigh, those were the days
