That guy CLEARLY wants to touch your child's special place.

edit: great, now he's gonna read this, get pissed, track me down, discover that I can't be fired, and then have to kill me to teach me a lesson.

I disagree with the crate training option for certain breeds; It can border on inhumane and dogs dont belong in plastic boxes. Blech....

The chin slap is pretty effective and dogs really hate when you clamp your hands around their mouths and stick their noses in what they have been chewing while yelling NO! pretty loudly...

And before you accuse me of anything my dog never, ever, chewed anything when he was inside that he wasnt supposed to. Outside he will take down tree branches, 2x4's etc but never inside the house.

And I would only suggest cold clocking your dog in the jaw with a closed fist to the truly frustrated or to deranged people that see dogs as little humans who must be dealt with accordingly.

Another variation on the chin slap, is the finger on the roof of the dog's mouth. Apply a little upward pressure. He won't go for your fingers if they get associated or conditioned to an unpleasant sensation. I recall our dog's breeder giving us that advice.

or grab hold of the bottom jaw, thumb underneath the tongue.

Remember, the dog's mouth = his hands.

It's how they interact with their environment, and they don't like losing that control.

i'm just happy he's not waking us up 2x a night anymore. and that he's eating playing and thriving unlike two or three weeks ago.

currently the rips have set in and he's barking at his reflection and racing around the apartment. . .
