Just heard this song today for the first time in ages.

Summer Breeze by Seals & Croft..

Do artists write/create songs that emulate such a strong sense of time anymore?

Discuss....

Damn this is just such a good song.

That's just about perfect.

I feel like watching Dazed and Confused all of a sudden.

"That Summer Feeling" - Jonathan Richman
Not just summer, but a sense of nostalgia for summer, as a CHILD... when school was out and there were no cares whatsoever.

When I think of Seals and Crofts, I think of all those other wimpy 70s bands/artists that were popular at the time-- Firefall, Dan Fogelberg, Gino Vanelli. "70's soft rock favorites!" I think my older sister had a Ronco comp with all of these songs on it.

How about that song "Spirit In The Sky". That's a pretty happy song. Puts me in good mood anyway.

Who's heard the Type O Negative version?

Edit: 6 hours later, I see that someone beat me to mentioning it.

As it turns out, yes. His enjoyment of Barry Manilow and Barbra Streisand should have been a dead giveaway, but damn if he didn't also love The Rolling Stones and Willie Nelson. He must have been so conflicted.

(I am talking about my dad, and not Rodney's. I'm sure the elder Mr. Paris is as hetero as they get.)

No shit. They cover "Cinnamon Girl", too, and probably a bunch of other shit.

I really enjoy that band, just for not taking shit too seriously.

My favourite is their slowed down version of Paranoid. They need to do the same thing to "I'm Only Happy When It Rains" (I can hear it).

Believe it or not, they were one of my very few favorite bands at one point, 5 or so years ago. I still really enjoy most of their shit. Slow, Deep, and Hard is a fucking excellent punk/speed metal album. The only one I can't fully get into is October Rust, but even that one has a handful of great tracks. I think I'm going to pull out one of their albums right now. I'm really in the mood for it.

Do they still tour? I picked up Life Is Killing Me on the day it came out, and then I kind of stopped paying attention to them. I never heard anything about a tour for that one.

When I play (in my mind, obviously) "movie director," strip joint scenes always are playing Type O Neg in the background.

I used to go to a strip joint because it was the only place in town that played cool music (I.E. sounds like my kind of place).
